Creative work doesn't come with a guarantee. But there is a pattern to who succeeds and who doesn't. And engaging in the consistent practice of its pursuit is the best way forward. Based on the breakthrough Akimbo workshop pioneered by legendary author Seth Godin, The Practice will help you get unstuck and find the courage to make and share creative work. Godin insists that writer's block is a myth, that consistency is far more important than authenticity, and that experiencing the imposter syndrome is a sign that you're a well-adjusted human.

Publisher's Summary
It was only nine years ago that Jim Harmer worked at a dollar store, stocking shelves while struggling through law school. He had worked hard for his goals, but there was no assurance in sight that he would ever achieve them.
During that year, he learned a key truth that changed the way he worked. He found the one unique quality inside him - one we all have - that gave him a reason to work. He didn’t know it then, but that secret ingredient was his "work energy".
Now, after creating a digital brand that has attracted over 70 million people and made him financially free, Jim has constructed the framework behind his success. Within this book, you will discover your own "work energy": the drive behind everything you do and the reason you can take on any goal. Whether you want to crush personal, career, or any other goal, your work energy will help you get there.

The Quintessence of How to Get S**t Done
As a person that has purchased many books on business, self improvement, and success, I know in the first 10 minutes whether or not a book is going to be complete drivel. This is definitely not one of them. Jim Harmer does a fantastic job at grabbing your attention and pulling you into his life story. The advice he gives you is actionable and will save you from spending worthless hours on the wrong projects. There is a reason Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and other like individuals can accomplish so much. They tap into their WORK ENERGY. After listening to only 1:06:41 I have already shifted my focus and plan to optimize my projects accordingly. Can't recommend this book enough and I'm excited to listen to the rest.

Honest
I am one of the people who has considered joining income school. I am one of those who wants to
Live life without being tied to society. I have watched his videos on YouTube and I am sure I am joining. Initially it was for passive income but after much reflecting and honesty assessment of the kind of impact my article will be to the world, I am not driven to answer the questions I pose on the Internet with the understanding that someone else is asking the same question. After reading/ listening to this book it became clear that my journey in the quest to get answers is the helpful direction I need to be on. Not the income. Not the accolades. Just simple helpful answers. This book has enlightened me and makes me full understanding why I watch, tag and save the information he shares. It is his honesty and venerability. It is a pull that is rare and I full value. I know I am safe in his space. Thank you for sharing.

An incredibly relatable, inspiring book
I am sure this is the first book I've ever finished in 24 hours. I could not put it down.
Jim's story is incredibly relatable to all who read it. The book will make you question your own motives and work style, both of which feed into bigger questions about purpose and meaning.
I'm from the UK, female, in my 20s and just about as opposite from Jim as you can get (sorry Jim) but I still saw so much of myself in the book.
I have a fresh sense of motivation and ambition after reading which was exactly what I needed. The book made me laugh out loud, and cry.
If you need any encouragement to go after your dreams, this is it. You can do it!

This is one of the best books I have gone through in my entire life. It is very inspiring from the point Jim moved from absolutely nothing to building a multimillion online empire. It proves that persistence pays off. Big up to Harmer, Income School and family for inspiring me to do even more now that am starting off my career after graduating from Engineering school and just like Ricky am going the online marketing way. Almost there
This book is a very interesting deep dive into one man's approach to life and how to turn ideas and dreams into reality, However while the content within is great the execution needed just a little more refinement and maybe some consutation with others who have followed the method and seen results or just some others to hear from in general.
But as one might understand from what was reiterated multiple times within the book, this is a first and maybe not a last (though if there is a followup please have a section dedicated to catching up with the people who he employed on the first business and some kind of resolution to them as he said he had let them down in his mind and no end to that letdown is somewhat disenheartening to the rest of the books message)
