Publisher's summary

Pirateaba returns, bringing you the thrilling fourth instalment of chart-topping LitRPG series The Wandering Inn.

It’s still winter, but everyone’s on the move. Rags the goblin is heading north, seeking allies against the Goblin Lord.

And Erin is going home...or trying to, at least. She’s determined to bring back cheer to The Wandering Inn - as well as Christmas! But the coldest time of the year leads to strange encounters with a number of people.

At the same time, Ryoka Griffin is far from what she would consider to be “home”. Deep in the north, in the city of Invrisil, she finds herself as the guest of Magnolia Reinhart. She must carefully negotiate the good graces of the Deadly Flower of the North. Like Erin, her success depends on friendships made by meetings of coincidence.

Includes the story of Wistram Days, when Ceria and Pisces first meet in the Academy of Mages, Wistram.

the Wandering Inn

you know how every so often there's a book that you just can't put down.
I think I got all of an hour of sleep in the past 34 hours of listening to this.

I love these books

This is a great series. It gets better and better, and seems like it never has to end. Many thanks to the author. Also, the narrator is amazing.

another great book

I normally listen only to LITRPG books. I consider this more epic fantasy but I have listened to the series 3 times and enjoy it and catch more nuance each time.

Fabulous, but start at the beginning!

The Wandering Inn is a fabulously complex, character driven fantasy, set amidst a hugely fascinating and well-developed world, with myriad races and skills and food and politics and history and even monsters (which I don't like!), but especially characters to be loved, or at least deeply intriguing characters. The private author, pirateaba, writes prodigiously, and as a web serial. This particular volume is not the one to start with, I assure you.

I'm not as keen on some aspects as others, which is only normal when the menu of "aspects" is colossal. While I wish Erin's voice was not pitched quite so high, and some of the fast talking and very accented characters are hard to understand (Ivolethe, Octavia, a couple adventurers), I have read the stories already and more than once...despite that, the narrator is extremely skilled and superb. She made the sections with Ryoka much more engrossing for me than in the initial reading, for instance. I didn't like the scary/surreal winter solstice events with Erin and Ryoka, at all, but no reader can be expected to love absolutely everything when there is such a vast universe and story documented in excellent writing. Please keep the Audible versions coming!!!

Can't wait for the next one

So I really enjoyed this book and I read some of the more negative reviews and that is what prompted me to write a review. I never usually do but it is necessary. These are not normal books. They are adapted from a web serial with a huge fan base for a reason. The story is put out weekly by the author, chapter by chapter, and so in that format fans move with the story and the characters in their own world. Much like your favorite TV show characters do on a weekly basis. That said, these audio books are just a compilation of that work. They are not meant to be whole well formed books with a beginning middle and end. They are collection of stories about the characters. I am glad that the author didn't break it up into separate novellas because then you have to figure out the order they go in and spend more money buying them. Having read online I am very excited for the next audio book because I know already where it goes. Book 4 in audio version might seem the most "wandering" but if you are enjoying the story and like the ride, keep going is my advice and just relax if the overarching plot doesn't move at the fast pace you are used to.

another great story

I love the wandering inn. I was a little disappointed that audible chose to break volume 3 into 2 books (books 3 and 4) when volumes 1 and 2 were complete in their respective books.
however that has no impact on the quality of the story nor the narration.

I cant wait for book 5. I'll go ahead and read volume 4. But the audible is so good, I thoroughly enjoy listening to it.
