Resumen del Editor

Actor, singer...necromancer?

All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world.

Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

This was insta love ❤... Grab this and watch pirateaba write magic!!!

I've been dying to read this book and I've had it on pre-order for what seemed like ages 😅. I finally read the blurb and I hope/know that pirateaba's gonna write a book that reaches all the way to eleven. That it won't be like that sorry excuse of a book that AbyssRaven wrote. I only bring this up because in both books the main characters are singers. And I'm definitely looking forward to see what pirateaba gonna write.
Ohhhh my god this is soooooooo good! It was love ❤ by the beginning of the first chapter. As I was fully vested into the story. Not since Ryoka Griffin, another character in pirateaba's Inn-verse, has the main character fought so within herself to not accept the class system of the game governing the system in this universe. As she, Cara just couldn't believe that a mere single song or any number of songs could elevate her class to a hero status. Life just shouldn't work like that.
And pirateaba is an artist painting the words as they land on the pages between the covers. And yeah, pirateaba can wring out every emotion from their readers! Yes, there's even some tears.
Ohhhh and Andrea Parsneau has always been one of my very favorite narrators, but in Gravesong she seriously out did herself, being elevated to master tier levels!
What a great stand-alone novel! And you could try it out even if you've never read any other Inn-verse books!

Here's a quote that amused me:

"She had a tendency to swear when she got upset, which was sometimes often."

Uncommon

Unique storyline. Starts a bit slow with just the main character but develops into a robust story. The production and narration are a large part of the performance. Very entertaining.

Wildly exceeds my high expectations

Superb, far exceeding my quite high expectations. By Chapter Two, with 19 hours to go, I said, this is amazing, and immediately mentally rearranged my schedule for the next two days. The writing is impeccable, the narration is superb, the singing is exquisitely just right, especially an incredible choir at one point. All of this praise is coming from someone who really does not like reading about the "undead" and crypts. Pirateaba is an incredible storyteller and has given us a standalone tale of a likeable and flawed, therefore quite interesting, character. It is a fully robust story, and greatly appreciated by this Wandering Inn world lover. I want to echo something in the excellent and thorough review elsewhere, about two points to whine about. My life is all about music and books, and I can tell Pirateaba is much younger than me by the music she picked for Ryoka, and I didn't really know the songs Cara sings, though I know the references, but the point about the "power of song" is superbly wrought. And, I too, was getting a bit irritated with Cara's rants based on her experiences and values, but yes, probably realistic. Regardless, convincing world building, superior plotting, perfect characterizations. HIGHY RECOMMENDED reading (listening!).

great performance, sad story

spoiler...I just don't like sad stories. however, I like this world and how everything works. I'm hooked on the first series despite some sad parts, so hopefully this one will grow on me. because of the first series, I'll definitely try the next book, but I hope it picks up a bit, and becomes more full of people variety, and places as she travels. you couldn't pay me enough to live in the area this story is set in.
dark, dingy, undead bunnies 🐰. Travel to someplace like Liscor Cara!

The Ghosts

Dragged in the beginning in the tomb then when she lived with h the dad and daughter. The scene in the bar was a bit much. Seemed too political.
