Publisher's Summary

A gorgeous new sexual awakening romance with sizzling first times, snarky British banter, and off-the-charts chemistry.

Life doesn’t always pan out as you expect. When it explodes in my face, literally, an old friend offers me a place to heal and a job renovating the kitchen of Burlington’s coolest wine bar.

V&V is a chill fest. Living above it should be a blast. But I’m not built to be a social butterfly. Not anymore. I’m a damaged man.

And I’m not its target clientele.

At least, I think I’m not until I come face-to-face with the most beautiful human I’ve ever seen. Joss is the new chef and my roommate. He has hair like spun gold, and it’s as pretty as the rest of him. Crystal blue eyes. Megawatt smile.

I can’t stop staring. Or thinking about him. He chases my nightmares away. And when he spots my crush a mile off, his solution to our chemical attraction blows my mind.

An experiment of sorts. Science. Is this sexual exploration or sex education?

Either way, Joss is only here for the summer. He’s leaving.

I can’t fall in love with him.

I can’t.

Shame my foolish heart never got the memo.

Wildfire is a heartfelt MM friends-to-lovers hurt/comfort romance in the True North world, with a brooding lumbersexual, a wild-hearted chef, sweet angst, and all the Vermont food. Content warning: contains mentions of depression, ADHD, suicidal ideation, and PTSD recovery.

Disappointed in this audio

I usually ADORE Ms. Leigh’s books on audio, so I listened to this one…and for the first time ever that backfired on me. I REALLY like both performers, especially Dan Calley, but neither of them could pull off the opposite accents. Tim Page didn’t master the British accent and Dan Calley’s American accent sounded like his regular voice. It was frustrating to listen to when they spoke for the opposite character, and it repeatedly took me out of the story.

I loved Joss and Kai. Kai is recovering from an incident at work and Joss has suffered from his issues his whole life. They’re good for each other and understand each other like no one else. Kai goes through a sexual awakening which is a good distraction from his PTSD. Their organic progression from friends to lovers to partners is refreshing and endearing.

There is a quick reference (almost six degrees of separation) to a character in my favorite book by this author which made me giddier than it probably should have.

Tanner and Jax, who were in Ms. Leigh’s book from the Vino & Veritas series, Heartscape, were major side characters in this book but it’s not necessary to read that book before reading this one. However, I’d recommend it because that story is fantastic.

Disappointing

Nice representation of mental illness. Other than that, I did not enjoy this audiobook. The story was just ok. Pretty cliche and predictable; no real stakes or conflict. No real spark between the MCs, although they keep saying how hot they are for reach other. I just never felt true intimacy. I could have lived with it but the narration really ruined it for me unfortunately. Neither narrator could do the other characters accent, which was extremely distraction; and the American narrator sounded like a TV announcer, dropping his voice at the end of every sentence - meaning to sound warm and sexy I guess? This one wasn't for me.

Sweet, sexy story

Love that both leads are bi!

I do find it weird when these books end with a proposal. Is that supposed to be hot?

Loved these two

This is one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed this sweet love story and watching their story develop. Much love for the excellent narrators as well. As I do with most reviews of Garrett Leigh books I mention that my favorite & many-times-read of her books is "Misfits", should anyone be looking for more from this author.

😍 For my baby Joss

I am actually in love with joss and all his flaws. He is so grounded an down to earth and it makes for a beautiful character. I just cannot express how much I feel for him. Same with Kai I loved him down to the tips of his toes . They fill a hole in my heart that I try to fill with romance novels. It’s too bad I have to wait to listen to this again because now everything I’ve listened to since this has left me a little disappointed because they don’t fill my heart the way this one does. I know I am hyping this up a little too much but I can’t help it. This story won’t be for everyone but It does it for me.

love story involving real people and problems.

well written, and acted story. I love the intersection of two "damaged souls" who understand, accept and complement each other. I love how sweet, understanding and accepting all the characters are.

Loved this title so much I’m on my second listen!

Often the characters in these books are two dimensional cliches reflecting a gay world that is hyper stylised or just so far from reality it just descends into porn. Not so here. This book is well written and keeps you interested until the end, in fact it left me wanting to know what is in store for the two lovers.
It’s a love story of the Mills & Boon variety, don’t expect plot twists and high drama, it’s a tale of boy meets boy and in this instance that’s quite enough.

The mix of the two narrator's didn't work.

The write up about the story really intrigued me, enough to buy!

I enjoy Garrett Leigh books but was unable to finish this one simply due to the narration.
Dan Calley and Tim Paige are brilliant in their own right but i found dan in this case was unable to do a decent American accent and Tim did an awful attempt at a british accent!
It was confusing when they were completing the dialogue for the opposing character and i struggled to understand who was saying what.

Sorry guys it didn't just jel.
