Publisher's summary

Renowned psychic Carol Marlowe was in sultry New Orleans on police business. Until an enchanted midnight bayou ride sent her spiralling back through time into the body and soul of a Creole belle, and into the arms of her seductive renegade lover. Suddenly Carol was caught in a world of scandal and intrigue. . . even as she surrendered to the fires of forbidden passion. Though danger threatened, she was determined to cherish her new-found happiness --- for she was living a love destined to last for all time.

TWO VERY HAUNTING LOVE STORIES OVERLAP CENTURIES

I hadn't heard of this author before but took a chance and it's one of those times when it pays off and you're so glad you did. BLW puts SO much detail into every scene you feel transported to either the bustling streets of present day New Orleans or to a Gone With The Wind type era where there was little choices for women of breeding. But in either time there's a damaged Hero and a heartbreaking story waiting to be told.

When Carol, the Physic, gets a call from Detective Frank from New Orleans asking for her help in trying to identify a mummified body her life will never be the same.... it'll be controlled by fate and mystical forces and when they meet there's an instant connection like they've met before. Their instant connection, ease with one another and joint desperate desire to find out just who the woman's body was is going to stir up a lot more than just facts.... a desire to change her fate which will have a dramatic and unforeseen effect on their own fates.

Once I started this very well-written sweeping book that must have involved a lot of research, I couldn't stop listening as there were so many twists and turns and, with each one, came new revelations but also new questions, twists and dilemmas. Two love stories that overlap time, there's a heartbreaking story in Frank's life, a Murder, visions, spooky bits, romance, sex (not too graphic), interesting secondary characters, a dual.... oh the list goes on and on and on so you'll just have to listen to it yourself to get the full spectrum of events and emotions all contained in this one listen.

Worth a credit? Oh boy YEAH is it ever, but it's a complicated listen that's (obviously) totally unrealistic but it was so captivating, romantic and mind altering that I've already put two more of her books in my cart. Dual POV's and with some other character's POV's along the way and the Narrator did an fantastic job in bringing the whole story to life.
