Worship leader and recording artist Laura Story's life took an unexpected turn when her husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Their lives would never be the same. Yes, with God all things are possible. But the devastating news was that no cure existed to restore Martin's short-term memory, eyesight, and other complications. The fairy-tale life Laura had dreamed of was no longer possible. And yet in struggling with God about how to live with broken dreams, Laura has found joy and a deeper intimacy with Jesus.

Laura helps us understand we aren't the only ones whose lives have taken unexpected turns. She examines the brokenness of some of the heroes of our faith and shows how, despite their flaws and flawed stories, God was able to use them in extraordinary ways. And it was not because of their faith but because of the faithfulness of their God.

God may not fix everything. In fact, although your situation might not ever change or get better, with Jesus you can.

Awesome Book

My wife is chronically ill with Lyme disease. I can relate so much to Laura's story. Listened to it on audiobook. Going to go back and reread chapter 19 on e-book because it sounded like she dug at heart issues. I want to work on my heart in order to serve my wife better.

Very relatable to my life

Although the book was amazing, chapter 19 was life changing for me. I left a marriage because of things that my husband was doing. During chapter 19, I realize very quickly that I was not an innocent bystander. That I wasn’t willing or open to taking a serious look at what I was bringing to the table.

the story is very God centered, and sincere. Definitely uplifting. The reader though seems cold at times, almost robotic. Not always. Only on some parts, but it does mess up perception of author. Once I remembered it wasn't the author writing I was able to get more into it.

Great book, not too crazy about the reader

I was at my all-time low when I was directed. By God, can't say anyone else but God to search audible and here comes this book. I started it but stopped. It was too much. But when one of my friends started to experience marriage the same way I did. I was compelled to go back to it. I am now motivated to tell my story no matter how hard it is to share and how bad it is. Thanks, Laura.

Fitting for the book.
