Publisher's Summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Dr. Michael Roizen and preventive medicine specialist Dr. Michael Crupain reveal how the food choices you make each day - and when you make them - can affect your health, your energy, your sex life, your waistline, your attitude, and the way you age.

What if eating two cups of blueberries a day could prevent cancer? What if drinking a kale-infused smoothie could counteract missing an hour's worth of sleep? When is the right time of day to eat that chocolate chip cookie? And would you actually drink that glass of water if it meant skipping the gym? This revolutionary guide reveals how to use food to enhance our personal and professional lives - and increase longevity to boot.

What to Eat When is not a diet book. Instead, acclaimed internist Michael Roizen and preventive medicine specialist Michael Crupain offer listeners choices that benefit them the most - whether it's meals to help them look and feel younger or snacks that prevent diseases - based on the science that governs them.

Interesting, but Some Conflicting Information

Some of the conclusions are based on studies conducted on rats. The author briefly mentions the healthiest diet is one with no meat (vegetarian) does not go into this diet much. Great performance but some conflicting information within the book.

Another Diet

Another diet book about joyless eating. (Dr. Oz style) Most people know what healthy food is or is not. But now they've added another twist to weight loss books: "when" you should eat it. If eating this way was the only way to longevity, I'd rather die younger.

if you enjoy only eating for survival

this book is a blueprint for how to eat for survival alone. If you enjoy food, you won't enjoy this book. At one point he says "find something you like to eat and eat it every day." I don't care if I live to be 150 on this plan, eating for survival alone is depressing.

Boring

What to eat is boring. I got the idea early on in the book. It felt repetitive. There wasn't much I got out of it. Sorry.

Interesting book but....

While the information in this book is very good, the presentation is unnecessarily glib and condescending. It’s really unfortunate since I suspect that the “attitude” will undermine the importance of the diet that is being recommended.

Interesting advice but unnecessary long

It was some very interesting and valuable advice that the book gave in the beginning. But all the ensuing chapters of what to eat, when.... was quite boring. The book could have been two hours in total considering the main message.
