Story
My father once told me, above all else...Live and die for Sparta. Honor. Loyalty. Duty. These were the things that mattered most. And then Axios came into my life, teaching me other lessons: Humility, brotherhood...love. There were moments when the brutal training stripped me of my humanity, where it turned me into a mindless beast of flesh and muscle set to destroy everything in my way. But then Axios stood in my way, ever vigilant, never failing to bring me back to myself. Love had no place in Sparta, they said. It made you weak. So why did I feel stronger with him by my side?

Owen Wister’s The Virginian pre-dates the classic novels of Zane Grey and Max Brand and is considered by many to be the original Western. Dedicated to Wister’s friend and fellow outdoorsman Theodore Roosevelt, this timeless tale almost single-handedly established the cowboy archetype in literature. A quiet, noble foreman of a Wyoming cattle ranch in the 1870s, the Virginian falls for pretty schoolteacher Molly Wood. But when a rival suitor challenges his honor, the Virginian struggles to make his beloved Molly understand the harsh justice of the West.

Story
To the Last Man is Zane Grey's archetypal tale of a bitter feud between two unforgiving factions: the ranchers led by Jean Isbel and, on the other side, Lee Jorth and his band of cattle rustlers. In the grip of a relentless code of loyalty to their own people, they fight the war of the Tonto Basin, desperately, doggedly, to the last man, neither side seeing the futility of it until it is too late.

Thoroughly enjoyed Toro, including a really compelling story and an uplifting message. It's perfectly catered to children and equally entertaining for adults; you could see this easily being adapted into a fantastic animated film. Loved the range of voices that were featured, too!

Spectacular in every regard!
I just finished listening to the audiobook Toro. The narrators are wonderful, making the characters come to life. The story itself is one that is uplifting, heartfelt, humorous at times and encourages everyone to pursue their dreams. Although it may be written for middle school students, in my opinion, it would be enjoyable for all ages, myself being an example. Toro would make a wonderful Disney movie and hoping we will be watching it in the near future. Kudos to the author.

Perfect for young kids and older, as well. It has a great overall message conveyed that is amazing for young kids to learn from. I thoroughly enjoyed the audio book and all of the different voices, especially Andrew Avner! They added so much emotion and suspense to the story. I didn’t want to ever put the audio on pause because it was so entertaining. Overall, it was an amazing and entertaining book.

Fun story, great listen
Overall, it is a great story and the cast was very good. I found the premise to be very refreshing, a strong cow who wanted to run with the bulls in Pamplona. The supporting characters were very well developed and a few were humorous. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
My only concern was the primary narrator. He really Anglicized the Spanish words and mispronounced the name “Alicia” throughout the story. I found that to be very distracting.
