My review

The story was good except for the number of times Gods name was used. I am sure the author can use so me other vocabulary .

Loved the characters

This is my first book by Lisa Jewel, but it definitely won't be my last. What stood out most for me was her brilliant use of different character voices and timelines when telling the story. Although I knew quite early on what the big twist would be, I became invested in all the characters and had problems putting down the book to deal with real life.

I really liked Laurel, even though she was grieving the disappearance of her daughter, she was brave, funny and always wiling to admit her mistakes. It loses a star because the ending was too perfect for my taste.

I listened to the audio and the narrator, Gabrielle Glaister, and she did an excellent job, especially with Laurel and and Noelle. I'm very happy to see that she is also the reader for a few other Lisa Jewell books.

If you are in the mood for a mystery, I highly recommend Then She Was Gone

Dark and twisty in all the best ways

I bought this title after listening to “None Of This Is True”.

I really enjoyed both but this one was my favorite!

Debating which Lisa Jewell title to buy next.

Absolutely brilliant

I don't normally do reviews but this was such a great listen. Compelling story with plenty of twists and turns. The narrator did a great job too.

A hidden jewell

I grew up reading Agatha Christie and Patricia Highsmith and polished my taste in psychological thrillers long ago before it became all the rage with “Gone girl”... It is my favorite kind of fiction and honestly, rarely a book lives up to my expectations, regardless of raving reviews (where I sometimes wonder if we were reading the same novel!). However, this jewel of book (and I do this purposely), was somehow hidden in my online library for a couple of years... until we found each other recently. And it is brilliant: the well thought and developed plot, the build up, the characters... the mastery of writing: it doesn’t matter that we more or less know and can predict what is going on. There are no “twist and turns” and “cliffhanger” endings... it is more about the real psychology of the characters and the deep understanding of nuances and flaws in all of us. A fabulous, brilliant book, strong recommendation for all those who love a real serious insight in human behavior and motives. Lisa Jewell is a great author and the credit also goes to the fantastic reading performance of Gabrielle Glaister.
