Publisher's summary

Jane Hawk - fiction's most relentless, resourceful, stunning new heroine - continues her battle against a murderous conspiracy in the riveting sequel to The Silent Corner.

"No time to delay. Do what you were born to do. Fame will be yours when you do this."

These are the words that ring in the mind of mild-mannered, beloved schoolteacher Cora Gundersun - just before she takes her own life, and many others', in a shocking act of carnage. When the disturbing contents of her secret journal are discovered, it seems certain that she must have been insane. But Jane Hawk knows better.

In the wake of her husband's inexplicable suicide - and the equally mysterious deaths of scores of other exemplary individuals - Jane picks up the trail of a secret cabal of powerful players who think themselves above the law and beyond punishment. But the ruthless people bent on hijacking America's future for their own monstrous ends never banked on a highly trained FBI agent willing to go rogue - and become the nation's most wanted fugitive - in order to derail their insidious plans to gain absolute power with a terrifying technological breakthrough.

Driven by love for her lost husband and by fear for the five-year-old son she has sent into hiding, Jane Hawk has become an unstoppable predator. Those she is hunting will have nowhere to run when her shadow falls across them.

Likable characters but too wordy

I love the Jane hawk books but I do feel like the author is a little too descriptive on things that don’t matter too much to the story. I got tired of hearing about the weather details and just wanted to get back to the story.
I would recommend to others although I am not as anxious to read the 3rd book as I was the first 2. The story is dragging on a bit.

a little over the top

I don't know if it's just a different genre, but this is just a little over the top compared to Koontz's other work. I would give the Odd Thomas Series a 5 by comparison, because although it is still a clear good vs. evil struggle, Odd Thomas does not take itself nearly as seriously. You get the idea of the author holing up in a bunker waiting for the apocalypse from the worldview this portrays. However, even though the narration is also over-acted, Koontz still spins great suspense, and a clear good vs. evil plotline.

Love the Jane Hawk Series

This 2nd book in the series was actually even better than the first. I found myself constantly wanting to listen. Looking forward to #3.

Part 3?

Good book. Looking forward to the third. I listen in my car.. the female narrator is difficult to hear as she lets her voice go soft.. had to guess at some of the words.

Wonderful

Great story. Well written, wonderfully narrated. To me, this is the Koontz storytelling I fell in love with years ago. Worth it!!

Koontz does it again!

I have no idea how Koontz is able to continuously keep me entertained for hours and hours yet he does- and now he continues to do so with a series! I adore how many characters he uses. Some characters I loathe, some I laugh out loud, and some I just flat out can't get enough of. I am becoming an enormous Jane Hawk fan and I'm obsessed with a bad-a heroine who is always one step ahead of her enemies. I have already began recommending this book to fellow readers/listeners! also I am writing this review late having already listened to book three so listen when I say CONTINUE THIS SERIES. YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Enjoying the Jane Hawk books

I've been reading (now listening) to Dean Koontz for 40 years or so now.. In all that time, I've only found one book that I had a hard time getting through. Definitely not the Jane Hawk books. Just finished #2 and I've already bought #3. Jane Hawk is a Badass. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of this series. Plus, everything else Dean Koontz writes. I would say he is my 2nd favorite author. Which puts him in great company. Since he is 2nd to Stephen King.

Certainly makes you think!

I find these stories both fascinating and frightening. Elizabeth’s narration is evocative and inspiring. What’s next? There is no end in sight and that is part of the problem. How does a story like this end? Moving on to the next book to find out I guess.
