Publisher's summary

This cult favorite coming-of-age suspense is now fully revamped! NEW recording. NEW narrator. Now with BONUS short story “Silence.”

“A fearsome tour of an adolescent's psyche. Terrifying, knee-knocking suspense.” - Chicago Sun-Times

“Hair-raising from cover to cover.” - Houston Chronicle

#1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz gives new meaning to blood brothers in this chilling audiobook of friendship gone awry.

No one could understand why Colin and Roy were best friends. Colin was so shy; Roy was so popular. Colin was fascinated by Roy - and Roy was fascinated by death. Then one day, Roy asked his timid friend: “You ever killed anything?” From that moment on, the two were bound together in a game too terrifying to imagine - and too irresistible to stop.

NOW WITH BONUS SHORT STORY “SILENCE”

30 years later...the story continues with the spine-tingling follow-up “Silence."

Glad I stuck with it.

Glad I stuck with it through its crass repugnant dark beginnings. If Koontz was not one of my favorite authors I would not have stayed with this book. It starts out with an abhorrent character and vulgar conversations that made me want to click to another book. After it got going,, It turned out to be a good read that held my attention. I would recommend staying with it and then through the linked short story to follow as well.

Entertaining

Loved the moral, ethical and human emotional underlying theme. Storytelling par excellence . Koontz at his best.

Great stories and performances!

I remember reading the short story version of Roy and Colin. The long version was so much better and torturous as well! lol. "Silence" was amazing...loved it and would love to follow more of Colin Jacobs' adventures in taking down the agency. More please!

Loved it!

I would definitely recommend this short story as a follow up to The Voice of the Night. I can’t write any details without spoiling it for you.

characters drawing me in

it's closer to 5 stars than 4 but I wish the end talked more about what happend with Roy, and heather and I wished they showed his stupid mother finding put the truth. I also thought that collin would have witnessed a crime with Roy like the truck actually hitting the train then he decided not to be friends anymore after being there when witnessing something horrible. this book still had so much suspense that gripped me. it's still one of his better books I would say. it's my 14th of his books since Halloween. lighting is still probably the best and first that I read.
