Publisher's Summary

The arctic night is endless. The fear is numbing. Screams freeze in the throat. Death arrives in shades of white. And cold-blooded murder seems right at home.

Conducting a strange and urgent experiment on the Arctic icefield, a team of scientists has planted sixty powerful explosive charges that will detonate at midnight. Before they can withdraw to the safety of their base camp, a shattering tidal wave breaks loose the ice on which they are working. Now they are hopelessly marooned on an iceberg during a violent winter storm. The bombs beneath them are buried irretrievably deep...and ticking. And they discover that one of them is an assassin with a mission of his own.

Better narrator needed

Narrator was too monotone...no change in tone at all. Also needs to work on accents/voice changes to indicate change of character.

I am cold thinking about it

A real eye opener to the Artic and how difficult it is to survive.
Intense story about scientist needing to be rescued from continual mishaps.
They have a crazed killer amongst them, and you're not going to believe who it is.

Was slow and not narrated well

Narrator spoke with one voice and put no inflection into different characters. Made the listen slow and uninteresting.

was not the best Koontz

Took me almost an hour of listening before I could get into this book. I kept waiting for the excitement to start.

Checked out after 30 minutes.

I am a huge Koontz fan but this had me disinterested after 30 minutes. A combination of absolutely horrible narration and WAYYY to much technical jargon to setup the location, mission and character background.

Dull

This is the first book by Koontz that I have found boring and predictable. The narration is flat and easily puts you into a malaze where the mind wanders and sleep comes easily.

I loved this book!

I struggled in the beginning because I am not a scientist but these characters were so much fun to learn about. GREAT BOOK!
