Great topic, poorly explained

Would you try another book from Michael A. Singer and/or Peter Berkrot?

No

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure

What didn’t you like about Peter Berkrot’s performance?

Fluctuation in voice to add dramatic effect caused volume to fade too low to hear at times. Too much attempt at dramatization.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Any book on the topic of consciousness will have a couple of useful nuggets and this book was no different. Just hard to stay interested between the literary style and narration.

Any additional comments?

The Power of Now may be advanced and take great concentration, but I found it much clearer and that it did a phenomenal job of explaining the topic. I recommend that book instead.

Disappointed

Very interested in the subject / story, I was disappointed. The examples were -in my opinion- ridiculous, "baby-issues" I would say, and the same examples came back again and again. The performance was OK, but I would not recommend this audiobook.

Starts well then loses the edge on the esoteric

Starts well but before the middle of the book, the esoteric stuff kicks in and never fades, bla bla bla energy and chakras and a lot of things I don’t identify with. Big let down for me.

The Untethered Soul

Based on elements of the description, I decided to purchase this audio book. while listening, I found the advice style overly redundant. It would say, "if your mind says do this," the advice was "don't do that," over and over. After a time, it simply became too boring to hear.

same fictitious nonsense

The author begins with "facts" not supported by any credible research, and uses every logical fallacy to reach conclusions about solving all manner of physical and mental ailments. Use the word "ENERGY" in place of science you don't understand, and feelings that are uncomfortable, and you will have written the sequel to this book.

Warning! This book may cause Tourette's!

I wish someone had warned me how bad this would be. From the reviews, thousands of people have found it useful and I think I would have found it useful too if it was summarised into a 'what-you-need-know' one pager instead of dragging it on and on for God knows how many hours.

In my opinion, this book is worthless to people who have:
i. Ever meditated
ii. Understand Buddhism
iii. Have a technical way of thinking and don't like over simplified stupid explanations.
iv. Anyone who has ever had some kind of spiritual insight.

If however you are new to any form of spirituality and have been living under a rock your whole life, then this might be for you.

I'll close my horrid review with two examples. Imagine this: You walk down the street and someone who you know very well walks by and, when you greet them, they never greet you back!

How dare you be upset! All you need to do is observe yourself getting upset and calm yourself with the following: There are billions of people on the planet. Why do you get upset when someone ignores you? This is the short version. The book's version lasts about 5 minutes.

Here's another gem: If you want to stop smoking, all you have to do is decide that you will never ever ever put a cigarette in your mouth again. Easy right!?

These are both examples drawn from the book and if it sounds like sound advice to you, well, you know what to do!

For me? I'm giving up and won't be finishing this load of crappy doodle!

The only good thing about the book is that the narrator is pleasant to listen to. Unfortunately the message did not resonate.

God and Science Attempts Needs to be Removed

God and Science Attempts Needs to be Removed. I cringed at the scientific inaccuracies. My happiness shouldn't be for God, it should be for me. The power of a hurricane doesn't come from emptiness, it comes from temperature and pressure of the air and vapors. there's no scientific "law" to back the author's claims

Thanks be to God

If you could sum up The Untethered Soul in three words, what would they be?

Tranquillity, Prudent Decisions - creating your own history, Success

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Untethered Soul?

Noticed that I should Never Gloat to be unstoppable; unlimited.

Have you listened to any of Peter Berkrot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No,but I would attend if I can.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and No; it was too profound that I personally have to listen to it serval times to decipher - partly I believe my English proficiency is a constriction that holding me back, but I think I'll get there pretty soon. - I can taste it!

Why is this book so well received?

I was mistaken when I thought this book would help me practice clearing my mind. I ended up being more frustrated than before simply because this book is filled with conflicticting and illogical arguments. I guess I'll just let it go...

Repetitive. Repetitive. Repetitive.

I purchased this book after rave reviews from multiple sources but I couldn't get through the first 3 chapters. The author simply repeats ONE idea and talks in circles. How this turned into a whole book that people loved, I have no idea. Here's the whole book : The conversation in your head is you having a conversation with yourself. Stop letting it talk and narrate every moment of your life.

Messages within the waffle

Some decent messages, if you can beat the tone and stand the waffle for several hours. I found it a really tough listen but persevered. Not sure it was worth the couple of nougats.

Abstract and impossible to follow

My eyes glaze over a few words into each chapter, and I just switch off. I’ve given it a good try, but all it achieves is sending me to sleep. I’ve read so much better. Hats off to those who can make out what this is actually about. I wish I could return it and get my money back.
