Publisher's summary

On the surface, Kit Caldwell has it all. A senior in college with her future ahead of her, lots of friends, lots of parties - not to mention also having the eye of Tommy, the star quarterback of the football team. But underneath, Kit's life is a charade, built on a foundation of secrets and lies, including one so dark it threatens to tear her world apart: her twin sister, Cat, was kidnapped when they were both seven, never to be heard from again. That is, until one dark Halloween night. But is it really Cat? Or is it someone else, someone playing a sinister and deadly game? To save herself from imminent danger, Kit, with the help of Tommy and her friends, is forced to go back in time and confront her own personal demons, as she finally discovers what really happened to Cat all those years ago.

Love this author but the performance was embarrassingly poor

I had to force myself thru this one because of the reader. Even had some personal verbiage recorded. Need to stick with January Lavoy!!!

The storyline was really captivating. The narrator, not so much.

Loved the story, but that narrator was not that great. She pronounced words completely wrong, paused in awkard places & when she would finally show some type of emotion in her voice, she sounded like a "valley girl".

I’ll update later when done

I haven’t finished this yet and I like the story but I’ve been ready to quit many times and ready to scream at how many times I have been irritated by the incessant swallowing of the narrator. Sounds like drinking water arrrrgh

Worst Michele PW book to date!

I’m a huge fan of this author and very much enjoyed The Redemption Series and the Charley Kingsley mysteries but this book disappoints. There’s a lot of foul language along with a plot that just never seems to really pull itself together satisfactorily. While the narrator isn’t exactly the worst I’ve heard she just isn’t right for this book as a more dramatic reading was needed to give this one any chance of success. I’d say to definitely not waste your points or time and pass on it!

Starts a little slow…

Starts a little slow and then picks up. Really unique story line. I don’t regret my purchase.

Good story

I enjoyed the story but the narration was terrible, it was so hard to listen to. It seemed as though she was having a hard time trying to figure out what to say, constant swallowing and long pauses and mispronounced words

Narrator Performance was horrible!

The story was interesting, but the narrator was horrible. Hearing her swallow all the time, odd difference in sound and then losing her place at chapter 22 talking to herself then figuring it out!! How did the producer miss all of this?

Decent Story - Performance Sorely Lacking

Overall, I did like the story, but it was a little drawn out & could have been shortened. HOWEVER, I did not like the narration. I would've appreciated more animation in her voice, but the major problem was the lack of editing. There were obvious errors & mispronunciations, plus an entire beginning-of-chapter piece of audio where the narrator was obviously talking to herself.

Great book!

First I want to say this was a good book I really enjoyed. When I first heard the narrator I thought I was listening to a librivox recording. But As I listened to the book she grew on me. I have read all the comments and all of them have bashed the narrator I don't care what they say I think she did a good job. If you don't like the narrator Read the book yourself.

Narrator is terrible and the main character is difficult to like

I was hopeful when I read the summary of the book and have enjoyed many of this authors other books. Not this one though! The narrator tripped over words constantly, her “southern” accent for one character was ridiculous and there were tons of weird pauses in recording and even one area where she messed up and was talking to herself lol. I wanted to scream at the main characters decision making process which made me not want to root for her and actually really annoyed me. The ending was weird and a let down for all the build up. I wasted my credit, don’t waste yours
