Publisher's summary

A murder mystery, high tea, dances, and boys...Regency London has never been so deliciously adventuresome, or romantic!

Seventeen-year-old Lady Alexandra is strong-willed and sharp-tongued - in a house full of older brothers and their friends, she had to learn to hold her own. Not the best makings for an aristocratic lady in Regency London. Yet her mother still dreams of marrying Alex off to someone safe, respectable, and wealthy.

But between ball gown fittings, dances, and dinner parties, Alex, along with her two best friends, Ella and Vivi, manages to get herself into what may be her biggest scrape yet.

Hope this is the 1st in a new series!!

Wonderful! Easy, fun read! The storyline kept moving with a bit of action, suspense and of course romance. I look forward to listening/reading more Sarah MacLean books.

Great story but did I just go through all that for that ending! Why yes I did!

The storyline comes across as a true to life situation and the narrative performance is perfect. The characters are not whiny or needy and true love comes from out of the blue. Make up your own mind don’t listen to reviews or do. Happy reading and listening everyone!

Tried to return and couldn't so I listened

I paid in cash vs a credit so when I listened to the first few chapters and realized it was not great, I tried to return it and couldn't. I love the author but this wasn't great.

The worst for me was the narration. She has great enunciation and clarity, but if I have to listen to her mispronounce Almacks one more time I might have to stab myself in the ear drums with a screwdriver. She pronounces it like the man's name Al, and the truck company Mack. It's nails on a chalkboard to me and it's probably in the book 100 times!

Excellent

Adventure. Love. Mystery. Strong families. And My favorite- friendship. It’s not often you get healthy, loving family relationships in this genre of books. I was very pleasantly surprised and eager to find the sequel.

Great romance. Rated PG. Not part of the Maclean novel universe.

I love Alex and Gavin. Their love feels very realistic. I totally believe their arguments and emotional confusion. It’s the perfect representation of old friends who weren’t expecting to fall in love. There isn’t much from Gavin’s point of view, but that was probably required to keep the romance from becoming steamy. Even if you love erotic novels (which I really do), this is still an enjoyable read. It reminds me of the book about Billie Bridgerton. Alex and Gavin are good, normal people who fall into a healthy, normal loving relationship. I’ve read it twice and listened to it once. I’ll definitely listen again when I’m feeling jaded.

Slightly disappointed

Narrator was fine but the entire story was a bit flat. I didn't really awake the next opportunity when I can listen to my audiobook like I have done with other stories from this author. it seemed it was missing details that made me be able to capture this in my head. not really sure. It just doesn't seem to be what I expected after having listen to eight other books.

A Great Read!

Loved this historical romance. It was romantic and not at all smutty. A great YA book that even an older audience can enjoy.

A Mediocre Journey

"The Season” is a book that left me with mixed feelings. While the storyline had its moments of intrigue, I found it to be somewhat far-fetched and lacking in depth. The plot twists felt forced, and the character development could have been more substantial. It seemed evident that the author was relatively inexperienced, as the writing style lacked finesse and polish.

However, the biggest challenge I faced while reading this book was the performance. The narrator's lisp was a significant distraction that made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. It became a constant reminder of the audiobook's limitations, hindering my overall enjoyment.

Despite its shortcomings, "be Season" had glimpses of potential. The author showed promise in crafting certain scenes, and with further development of their skills, they could produce more captivating narratives in the future.

In conclusion, this book was just okay. It fell short of my expectations due to its far-fetched storyline and the distracting narration. While it may appeal to readers seeking a light read, I would recommend approaching it with tempered expectations.
