Publisher's Summary

Meet the Sassy Belles. They're strong as a mint julep, sweet as peach cobbler, and no matter what, they stick together.

There are only two seasons in Tuscaloosa - football and waiting-for-football. When Lewis Heart, football announcer and voice of the Crimson Tide, vanishes after an impromptu romp with Vivi Ann McFadden at the Fountain Mist Motel, Vivi does what any Southern woman would do: Call her best friend, Blake O'Hara Heart, attorney-at-law.

With the town gossip swirling around them, Vivi and Blake are determined to find out what happened to Lewis and clear Vivi's reputation. Because after all, men may come and go, but the Sassy Belles are forever.

Not since Steel Magnolias have we fallen in love with such sexy, strong and hilarious Southern women. So grab your best girlfriends and join these Belles on the first of many joyrides through the Deep South.

Disappointing.

Would you try another book from Beth Albright and/or Allison McLemore?

I am going to preface this review by saying that I got 4 hours into the book and couldn't finish it. I don't want to give anything away, but I found the main character lacking in ......well, character. If you have issue with extra-marital affairs. . . .this isn't for you.

Would you ever listen to anything by Beth Albright again?

Nope.

What about Allison McLemore’s performance did you like?

She did the voices well.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narrator was good.

Narration FABULOUS

Great story, but no doubt about it, the narration is what makes this story FABULOUS. Allison does so many voices, shes fantastic!

Horrible Characters and Pointless Story

First off the shameless description of the sex scene between Lewis and Vivi at the beginning was just weird and needless, it added nothing to the book and in fact gave me a bad taste of the book going forward. All of the characters were shallow and whiny except for Sunny whose moral compass seemed to be extremely off course where Blake is concerned. I just don't understand why Vivi would just leave Lewis dead in the motel room if she loves him so much and not call an ambulance that could help. The whole story just seemed rushed and that the author was making things up as she went along without any planning ahead at all. The characters were overdramatized and makes me wonder if the author has actually ever been to the south.

really good....except

it was a really good story, some twists and turns. The thing that got me was the narrator, she just was monotone when doing the narration part. She did a pretty good job with the characters, however, the male voices were still sounded more like female characters . The southern accent was really good though.

Good writing but did not like heroine

What did you love best about The Sassy Belles?

Updated take on the Steel magnolias movie

What other book might you compare The Sassy Belles to and why?

Steel magnolias

Which character – as performed by Allison McLemore – was your favorite?

The grandmother

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did not like Blake. She was immoral and doing adultery and nasty to other characters.

Any additional comments?

I like the third book in this series the most called SleighBelles.

This character is not someone I would be friends with in real life but it is a good series to give a try.

Refreshingly light, well written and fun

Would you listen to The Sassy Belles again? Why?

Maybe. If I was in the mood for something light, but well written, I would listen again. The plot could be a bit more interesting but I really enjoyed listening to this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vivi. I like her spirited personality. She was also the main focus of the funniest scene. I laughed out loud when she described her " romp" with Lewis.

What about Allison McLemore’s performance did you like?

Her performance was great. I was able to distinguish different characters by her voice alone. Strong performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Something about friendship, mystery, infidelity with a cast of fun southern characters. It might need a little more plot development but the characters are fully developed. I would love to see them on the big screen. The characters would make a great sitcom.

Any additional comments?

Worth the credit if you're wanting light southern fun.

Strong Southern Loyal Women

If you're in need of a good funny listen this is for you. Never ever mess with a southern woman. Put together a group of them and if you wind up on their sh*t list than you should run. Run fast and run far! These are some funny loyal loving women with always have each others backs, especially when the jerkish men in their lives turn out ti be....less than. A fun listen.
