Publisher's Summary

Southern belle Leelee Satterfield leaves her beloved Memphis to follow her husband's pipe dream: to manage a quaint Vermont inn. But when they arrive, young daughters and ancient Yorkie in tow, they discover pretty fast that there's a truckload of things nobody tells you about Vermont until you live there.

When Leelee is left swindled and snowbound, she's forced to confront the true depth of her Southern grit in this foreign town.

Scarlett heads North

Southern women overcoming adversity - NATURALLY!! LeeLee's adventure is worth the read. Not earth shattering literature, but fun. Worth the purchase.

very good story

I really enjoyed listening to the book. I listened on the way to work and almost couldn't make myself get out of the car when I got there. The characters are all very colorful.

I Loved It !!!!!!

I loved this book, I am a chick lit freak but... this book was soooo much more. SO MUCH MORE!!! The story was fresh, funny, heart warming and the charactors were so vivid. I did not want this book to end. The author has a new book coming out next month and I will buy again (as it is a sequel SO HAPPY!!!!) You will not regret spending a little time in Vermont with this southern belle and her friends new and old!!!!! Like good warm apple crisp and a cup of coffee. Too good to put down!!!!!! Carleyjune

Utterly charming

The story of a traditional southern belle misplaced in a small town in Vermont is hilarious and heart warming. The characters are lovable, and you'll find yourself cheering for Leelee the whole way through. the narrator does an impressive job portraying each individual character's personality. This is a must have for lovers of Chick Lit

A bit shallow.

A bit shallow plot but easy listening while driving to work. Didn't like the last chapter.

LeeLee hits Vermont!

Any additional comments?

I loved the title of this book and I really wanted to like the story, but I got stuck in the little Southern woman's subservience to the big strong Southern selfish man. I almost quit several times. But I did stick it out and got to see the little Southern doormat wife begin her rise to the top. LeeLee Satterfield is not my favorite character of all time, but I came to respect her as she dug herself out of the hole her husband put her in. The Vermont characters are a hoot and by the end of the book I was rooting for the Southern Belled to stay in Vermont. It ended with somewhat of a cliffhanger so now I have to read the second book.

Not my cup of tea

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure. My husband and I listened to the first half together and he refused to listen any further. I trudged ahead without him, but it improved only slightly.

What was most disappointing about Lisa Patton’s story?

The main character is portrayed as a spoiled, whiny, entitled little rich girl in the beginning. I expected to see her personality develop more, but it just didn't happen. Also, the "yankees" seemed to be portrayed as mindless idiots who didn't have enough sense to come in out of the cold.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration was fine.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor'easter?

I think I would have punched up the story a bit, giving it, and the main characters, more depth and personality. I felt that too much time was wasted on unimportant issues and points. I never really connected with LeLe and I tried. I'm a transplanted yankee and have been living life as a southerner for 30 years, so I normally enjoy and relate to stories about southern women. Not this time!

Any additional comments?

I always read the reviews before purchasing a book and this one got pretty positive feedback. I suppose you can't please everyone!
