Publisher's summary

Religions are institutions; but when religion is over-institutionalized, it loses and is drained of spirituality and, therefore, ceases to be a religion.

cuts through the usual glib sloganeering

makes it clear on strictly logical grounds that religions have to be institutionalized. clearly distinguishes between religion, religious values, spirituality, etc. and puts to rest the new age meme about religion not needing any kind of anchoring in anything institutional. nice dispassionate analysis.
