Publisher's summary

What does Jesus mean when he says, "Follow me"?

Twenty years ago, pastor-teacher and best-selling author John MacArthur tackled that seemingly simple question and wrote a book that has since taken its place among Christianity's classics. This 20th anniversary edition of MacArthurs provocative book has been revised and contains one new chapter.

Reveals The Teaching of Jesus on Conversion

This audiobook is focusing on the matter of the Lordship of Christ being preeminent when one seeks salvation. Rev. MacArthur points out that one cannot get saved and make Jesus Lord later, He is Lord over one's life when one comes for salvation, or it is an indication that one is not turning one's life over to Him. Such a position would mean that one is not then translated out of the Kingdom of Darkness and into the Kingdom of Christ as one would be coming with reservations and not really to repent and convert. Instead, one would be seeking something with an ulterior motive, a somewhat deceptive action of seeking something without a change, without being convinced that Christ is the Way, the Truth and The Life, but just a way to avoid judgment and punishment for sin. He points out that Jesus requires that one be translated out of the Kingdom of Darkness and into His Kingdom, or one is not save.

Contents based on the words and actions of Jesus.

Would you listen to The Gospel According to Jesus again? Why?

Yes- to reinforce learned truths

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Gospel According to Jesus?

Realizing that Judas had a relationship with Jesus(3 years) but not a commitment or belief that Jesus was indeed the very Son of God.

Which scene was your favorite?

Jesus explaining His teaching to his disciples.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

MacArthur deepen my faith and enlightened my knowledge of witnessing---not based on church words but on the words of Jesus Himself.

Any additional comments?

No teaching available like the Bible itself and MacArthur relays that in every sentence.

The whole book in context is biblical

This is not a book to be listened to or read in part. The entire book is the only way to understand what MacArthur is saying. Right to the Q&A in the back. I am appreciative to the thoughtful and thorough biblical application and biblical explanation of the Gospel according to Jesus. If more people read these days I would give them this book. It is especially a good book for parents with wayward or prodigal kids that may have given a profession of faith early in life. Or a good book for those questioning their faith or living in rebellion to God or just comfortable with sinful compromise. Also, good for those studying Jesus teachings about salvation.

Excellent!

if you are a Christian and know there is more to salvation than simply praying a prayer and asking God to come into your Heart, if you have seen professing Christian's turn away from Christ, this is the book for you, it walks you through Lordship salvation an aspect all but forgotten or done away with in the modern day church.

Amazingly Accurate

Insightful review about what Lordship salvation is. He boils it down to the reality that true believers will bare spiritual fruit and if a believer is not consistently doing so they may need to question their faith. Lord=Master and Servant=Slave.

Clear and concise exposition of truth of bible.

High regards for the depth of discussion and treatment of the topic, yet clear enough for a simple believer to grasp and hold onto.
