Acerca de esta escucha

The renowned scholar, Anglican bishop, and best-selling author widely considered to be the heir to C. S. Lewis contemplates the central event at the heart of the Christian faith - Jesus' crucifixion - arguing that the Protestant Reformation did not go far enough in transforming our understanding of its meaning.

In The Day the Revolution Began, N. T. Wright once again challenges commonly held Christian beliefs, as he did in his acclaimed Surprised by Hope. Demonstrating the rigorous intellect and breathtaking knowledge that have long defined his work, Wright argues that Jesus' death on the cross was not only to absolve us of our sins, it was actually the beginning of a revolution commissioning the Christian faithful to a new vocation - a royal priesthood responsible for restoring and reconciling all of God's creation.

Wright argues that Jesus' crucifixion must be understood within the much larger story of God's purposes to bring heaven and earth together. The Day the Revolution Began offers a grand picture of Jesus' sacrifice and its full significance for the Christian faith, inspiring believers with a renewed sense of mission, purpose, and hope and reminding them of the crucial role the Christian faith must play in protecting and shaping the future of the world.

great

The message was not new. A different perspective. Powerful. The cross marks the beginning of God's Kingdom here on Earth.

Nearly Perfect Audiobook

It's a great book, and read very well. The only thing that could have been an improvement would be if it was read by the author- N.T. Wright's voice is like sweet cream butter.

Top Notch Defence of Roman Polithiesum

Good narration all the way through this book. The understanding of pagan and Jewish culture is top notch. The reason to continue this course is laid out and why no one has gone against current dogma is reasoned out thoroughly. This book helped me understand why nobody has tried to rock the tide of biblical misconceptions since Martin Luther. The Bonhoeffer references near the end is why I liked this book so much.

Bishop Wright Does It Again!

Your history & Theology add such a powerful message about what leads up to Jesus’ Crucifixion and what it meant then. What it means today.

A Transfomative Read

In "The Day the Revolution Began," renowned theologian N.T. Wright presents a transformative exploration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Wright challenges conventional interpretations of atonement, arguing that the cross was not merely about securing our afterlife but was the decisive moment when God confronted evil and initiated a new world order. Through meticulous scriptural analysis and engaging prose, Wright invites readers to reconsider the significance of Jesus's death as the foundation of God's transformative work on Earth. This thought-provoking book is a compelling read for anyone interested in the revolutionary power of the crucifixion.

It is heavy

It is a heavy topic to take the platitudes that our faith has been boiled down to and try to recontextualize them into something bigger, but it is well worth it to shake off the confines of what you thought the gospel said and realize the true freedom we so often overlook.
