Baffled by a seemingly supernatural connection to his critically injured sister, an FBI special agent heads to the Oregon coast in search of a more plausible explanation for his sudden ESP, only to discover more puzzling mysteries.

FBI agent Ford MacDougal - "Mac" - is recovering from a terrorist car bombing when his sister appears to purposely drive her Porsche off an Oregon cliff. Curiously, Mac felt as if he were in the car with her as she sailed toward the sea, even though he was really in a hospital bed on the other side of the country.

By the time Mac arrives in Portland, his sister - Dr. Jilly Bartlett, a medical researcher - has come out of the coma she's been in for four days. But after a few scant hours with her brother, Jilly vanishes without a trace. In searching for her, Mac gets a different story from everyone he encounters. When the local sheriff enlists Mac's aid in a puzzling murder of an elderly resident, Mac little suspects that the case connects to his sister's disappearance. FBI agents Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich (last seen in The Target) join Mac to ride shotgun, only to find their search leading from a small town on the Oregon coast to the rain forests of Costa Rica. Together, they must escape relentless pursuers as well as the hostile jungle itself before discovering the true nature of the evil at The Edge.

A very good mistery, it took me a while to figure out who did what. A great sgkrh.

I enjoyed this book, but man it was terribly difficult to listen to the narrator butchering names such as Willamette University and Chemeketa. Overall the plot was good and I would recommend.

Terrible pronunciation of Oregon locations

I'm so glad this was the 4rth book in the series and not the first. I love Catherine Coulter's writing and loved the first 3 books and the ones I've read since this in the series. This book was not written in her usual manner. It was written in the first person unlike the rest of the books in this series that I've read. The dialogue was choppy and seemed like it was written by a child at times. I didn't want to finish the book and was debating whether to read the rest of the series. I checked into the following books in the series and saw that they were written as the first three were, so I finished the book and delved into the rest of the series. I haven't been disappointed in the following books. This one almost felt like it wasn't even written by Catherine Coulter.

Not typical for Catherine Coulter

I have really enjoyed the FBI Thriller series on audible until this one. I think the story would have been good with a different narrator, but I’m not sure. The voices, especially women’s voices, and the odd reading pauses ruined it for me. I will listen to Book 4 in this series and hope it’s better. If not, I am moving on to another author.

Disappointed

I enjoyed the book but would have to go back because it was confusing. I’m ready for the next book

These were
probably the WORST narrators EVER. I WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT LISTENING TO THEM.

Narration

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

I have not had any reason to dislike any narration from any of the books I have heard here or on any other audiobook sites. This narrator was very good. But I find that I developed some bias as to narration. I prefer an alto female voice to a higher pitch and I find that if the story includes voices from both genders, I prefer a female narrator to a male narrator. The best ,of course, is a narrator of each gender. I am wondering if others have such preferences? Of course a good story is good regardless but I find some narrations are easier to follow than others. As I listen primarily to novels this may predispose my perception and my intention is not to open a forum but to ask if others have certain “favorite” narrators along with “favorite” authors.

Another revisit to this series in audio form. Ford is in the hospital after sustaining injuries after a bombing and has a nightmare about his sister Jilly driving her Porsche off a cliff. After calling he finds out his dream is true and she is in a coma. As soon as he is able he leaves the hospital and travels cross country to be at her side only to find more questions than answers. There is something going on in this small town and Jilly and her husband are involved...but who else? This one was good with lots of twists and turns.

Overall the story was a good one and that was the only thing that kept me going. The author’s dialog was like something out of a bad detective novel so I guess this is how I would characterize this book. The wooden delivery of the readers didn’t help. The attempts to make up voices missed the mark. I only gave three stars because the story had so much potential.

This was painful

Another CC amazingly well written story.
i have read books 1 thru 4 in about a week.
They are difficult to put down.
I am happy I did not try to read these before retirement. Hahaha.
Thank you to author and to Robert for narration.
