As an eighteen-year-old man, Ryley's time in the boys' youth shelter is over. The story begins the night he is kicked out. He discovers a piece of paper in his pocket, which is his father’s Penn Brook Penitentiary profile.
In an unfamiliar city with nothing to his name and nowhere to go, Ryley must find his father for help. Along the way, he’ll befriend a furry companion named Kaia, a girl named Addison Gray, a former youth shelter resident whose father shares the same address as his own, and a street-wise young man named Lucas. Together, the four journey across the city, all-the-while being chased by Lester Gibbs's men, who somehow find them at every turn. In the process, Ryley will rescue his captured friend, uncover a traitor amongst them, and face an ultimate test to understand the true cost of revenge.
