Publisher's summary

Love is a sacrifice at the altar of power.

In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn.

The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs its claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.

When Raihn offers Oraya a secret alliance, taking the deal is her only chance at reclaiming her kingdom—and gaining her vengeance against the lover who betrayed her. To do so, she’ll need to harness a devastating ancient power intertwined with her father’s greatest secrets.

With enemies closing in on all sides, nothing is as it seems. As she unravels her past and faces her future, Oraya finds herself forced to choose between the bloody reality of seizing power and the devastating love that could be her downfall.

Full of heartbreak, redemption, bloody intrigue, and heart-pounding action, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King is the gutting second installment of the Crowns of Nyaxia series and the conclusion of the Nightborn Duet. It is perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Such a good duo-logy!

Definitely recommend this audiobook and the first one, the story and narrators did an excellent job!

Good listen, liked first book better

I enjoyed the plot more in the first book, but the second book was still good. I love both narrators.

Great ending!

My only critique is I wish the narrators had been consistent in pronunciation. The most obvious was Amanda saying Mee-sha (same as the first book) and Aiden saying Mish-a, but I noticed a couple of other words as well.

Good listen.,

Lots happens in this book. Creative story, worth the credit. Amanda is fantastic. I enjoyed her reading of all characters in Book 1. I didn’t enjoy the male narrator’s choices for our hero. Too low and gravelly. Made him sound old.

Better Than the 1st Book

I personally think this book was better than the first. I really didn't know how the plot would turn out and I'm so glad the way it developed throughout the book. I also really liked the character development with both main characters. Also I loved the narrators! Can't wait for the 3rd book!

What a ride!

This book had an amazing balance of the continuation of character building, world layout, constant action/thrills and spice! Vampires, half-human, demons, gods and goddesses .. this book has it all. Loved the first 2 books, cannot wait to continue reading the series and finally learn about Vail’s story!

Loved the two narrators

Where do I start? The story line was captivating with all the plot twist. Definitely kept u on your toes. My man Aiden Snow is not allowed to do a sex scene cuz my goodness that voice....!!! Really enjoyed and appreciated the addition of a second narrator. I read the Novella before I read this one and it made for a better understanding of Lilith and Vale. I might even re read the Novella. I am enjoying this series and can't wait to start Book 3.

Vincent was my character

Vincent is a true vampire king. The selfishness, vanity, deceit, manipulation, and cunning makes him a memorable character. But, I also found that even a king couldn't escape the tug of a daughter's love for him, and he for her.

Great sequel!

I was eager to hear the storyline play out and I was not disappointed. The book has more character development than the first and takes the reader on a fantastic ride much like the first! Great read!
