Great duet!

I really enjoyed this book - slow burn, interesting world building, can’t wait to read what happens next!

Good story, terrible narration

The audible audiobook is terrible. Narrator sounds like AI. This book lured me in pretty quickly. I was fascinated by the introduction to Kain and everything about this fire fae. I wasn’t a huge fan of Maddy at first, but she grew on me. Her character got stronger and so did my affinity towards her. There is one character I’m awfully suspicious of…I must keep reading.

Interesting concept

This book has a great concept, and really grabs you once character development starts kicking in for the antagonist. The only 2 problems being the performance of the female reader being extremely robotic, making the dialogue sound worse than it actually is, the fact that it ended too soon! It should have been about 50% longer, it felt like it ended in the second act. I enjoyed it and am now impatient for a sequel.

Loved the story. Not a fan of the narrator

Loved this story had me from the start and got better and better. The narrator sounds like a robot or eleven from ST
But the story was great.

Has potential

Like so many other said the story has really good potential but didn’t pick up until the last 30 minutes of the book. However, I will listen to the next one.
