Want to find another book to recreate the feeling
This book grabbed me immediately. The world creation, the story, the steam, all of it - chefs kiss. LOVED the female narrator. She's got a great voice. Thank God we don't hear the male narrator until the last part of the book. Completely wrong choice for the character. It's why I'm reading the second book and not listening to it. I'm trying to find another book to recreate the feeling this book gave me.

I swear if I ever hear the words “my people” again my ears will explode. It must have been said 1000 times. The voice for the main make character was awful. I finished it hoping it would get better but it didn’t. Don’t waste your time.

Great book! Horrible male narrator for the bonus chapter!!
The story is hood and the voice of the female performer suits the main character very well! However the voice of the male performer is AWFUL ABD JUST WRONG. I don’t understand why he was picked to narrate. How in the world did y’all listen to his voice and thought that he was what the people wanted to hear. I recommend the book and I love the boldness of the main character and I actually love the writing for the male lead , but this is a prime example of a the wrong narrator can ruin everything

There were a few plot points that didn't seem plausible to me. I was hoping that would come together better at the end, but it worsened. I might continue the series, not sure. The word "F---" lost it's poignancy with so much use.
