In the realm of Isodoro, just two things stand between Alliance lands and the spears and muskets of the orcish hordes: the wizards of the Order and constant infighting amongst the orcs themselves.

In the Alliance capital, young Wit has just been promoted from apprentice to full wizard - and saddled with the very unglamorous task of traveling to a distant iron mine to inspect it for fraud. Worse yet, he's partnered with Wa'llach, a drunken dwarven prisoner who's killed more people than most plagues.

Yet those skills are about to become very handy.

For the lord who runs the mine doesn't intend to let Wit get anywhere near it. And across the border, orcs who've hated each other for ages are starting to work together - and to strike into Alliance territory.

It looks like a conspiracy. Smells like one, too. And if it isn't stopped - either by Wit, or by the mysterious clan of orcish rangers that patrols the frontier - the entire Alliance Alliance will blow apart like an orcish death-stick.

A Western-infused epic of outlaws, treachery, treasure, and the frontier, Students of the Order is the first in a new series from a USA Today best-selling author and Audie nominee for Best Fantasy Novel.

Great story

Firstly, Micheal Kramer is incredible as always.
The book itself was also really beautifully written, but I do have one complaint about it. the perspectives got very confusing at times, especially when the power was used to see memories. it was very easy to get turned around in those parts and lose track of who the viewpoint character was, when they were, and what was going on in that specific when.
The memory that the adepts all shared about their companion was the perfect example of this.
Otherwise, the story was compelling and the characters were all very three dimensional and felt quite real. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy

A well written story with only minor issues

I got to chapter 30 purely based on the author’s ability to evoke curiosity and a couple of the characters. I stopped reading at chapter 30 because I didn’t care about the outcome.

Basically, the author accidentally created an anthology rather than a cohesive story with multiple points of view. I came away without being invested in the outcome of any of the stories so that when some aspects of the stories eventually coalesced, it didn’t matter to me.

I’ll be honest, passed over this new book by Edward w. Robertson a few times even though I read all his other books. Huge fan of Mr. Galand. Lol.

Anyway, gave it a chance and wasn’t able to turn it off. Great characters, strong development, and the overall story arc left me wanting more.

Michael Kramer never disappoints. Seriously, his ability to suck you into the world is top notch.
I can’t wait for the next chapter.

Hooked, hooked hard. Great experience!

Brilliant piece of fantasy literature which finds away to be both familiar and new at the same time!

Fantastic Entry Into a new Realm

What an emotional rollercoaster. You come to care for all of the heroes and the dreadful circumstances they find themselves in. And even the villains are varied and interesting- not one dimensional characters, but just people with serious flaws. Loved the narration as well. Really looking forward to a volume 2

Great, Unpredictable. Deep.

Finally a fantasy series with an orcish protag, about time!
The way magic works in the world was pleasently non-conformist and gave rise to a mage order rife with corruption and greed. It's the perfect satyre for the corporate powers that run America 👍
loved the story and the prominent races, looking forward to the next in the series!
