Publisher's summary

Warring kingdoms. Ancient blades. Dragonriders and godlings. A growing evil that threatens to destroy the world. Don’t miss the highly anticipated follow-up series to the number one Amazon best-selling saga, The Fatemarked Epic.

Infused with magic, shadows and starlight, the powerful godblades were believed to be lost nearly half a millennia ago, when the Godswar ended. Now, however, one has been found by the unlikeliest of wielders: Sampson Gaard, a blind but ambitious prince with something to prove.

The only question is whether he controls the blade or the blade him. With an insidious evil lurking in the shadows, the answer may very well determine the fate of all Kingfall.

The Kingfall Histories takes place on a different continent in the same world as The Fatemarked Epic. Fans of The Fatemarked Epic, The Stormlight Archives and Legends of the First Empire will fall in love with the world of Kingfall.

An epic tale with DRAGONS!

Great story will have you listening eagerly and hating going to bed or work! The characters are rich and multi dimensional.

I enjoyed the narrator who brought the scenes to life. This is my first David Estes novel, but definitely not my last. Well worth the credit spent! I can't wait for book 2 of Kingfall histories!

A setup novel

This was a good book but definitely felt a little more like a setup novel then a complete story. Obviously a series novel has to ride a some kind of line in this regard. I feel some have done so better. But I would listen again and look forward to book 2.

This Might be better than Game of Thrones .

Yes, I believe that these books could very well be better than Game of Thrones, especially if the author finishes his work. and with that being said, this would make for an epic tv show. So long as they stick to tbe story line and dont D&D it like HBO did.

I CANNOT Get Enough Estes!!!

After binging the entire Fatemarked Epic, I was *delighted* to discover this follow-up series. This was a terrific debut to that new series. David Estes' writing style feels very comfortable to be at this point (some 6,000 pages in!) I love his world-building, I adore the multi POV, but most of all, I cannot get enough of his characters! They feel so real and varied. Each becomes fully fleshed-out. They live and grow as people, both individually, and in small groups. They are not without their faults (even the "good guys,") and the "bad guys" are not completely without good - or, at least, a back-story that we learn along the way that explains a lot about how & why they became who they are.

Estes included a neuro-diverse character in Fatemarked (who makes a cameo here in Kingfall, decades later.) Kingfall boasts a blind character. This idea of non-traditional or disabled characters in an epic fantasy was fascinating to me! And these are not the only two examples!

The different lands/continents of Kingfall are quite varied in landscape, biome and culture. The process by which these varied peoples gets to know one another is always a fascinating journey through real prejudices. Their ability to often come to accept, understand, and, sometimes, even love, others can teach us all a lot!

I, for one, do not feel these books are too long. There's a lot going on! And the incomparable Tim Gerard Reynolds could read a telephone book and make it sound interesting! When I find a story that I enjoy THIS much, I want it to go on and on! I don't want it to end! I sincerely hope that we have not seen the last epic fantasy from David Estes! And I cannot wait to continue The Kingfall Histories ... downloading Dragonfall NOW!

Rare to find underrated epic fantasy

Found this book in the middle of one of those times where you just can’t seem to find a good book to read. One of the best I’ve read in awhile. Look forward to book 2. This book was great

Great expansion to the world from previous series.

It was a great story and was cool to see the previous series tied in. I would say this falls into the low fantasy setting in my opinion. You don't need to listen to the previous series to get into this one (so far) but it did make a few parts even more exciting/hype. If you have listened to the previous series then definitely listen to at least postlude 4!

Wonderful.

This series opened up very strong. I feel a connection to each of the main characters, whether it's good or bad. The World building is solid so far, and I'm already starting the next in line. I love it so far.
