the main character was excellent. With his thoughts being conveyed to.us.

I found that there was too much emphasis on war like happenings for my preferences.

This series has been amazing from the beginning! 10/10 would recommend! The writing is very good quality and the action is superb

This guy is a loser!!!!

I like this book, but the tone of the author makes the story less enjoyable. I wanted to quit the series, but I couldn't help myself. He's like a "chosen one" supposed to be able to do all sorts of cool stuff, n he does every once in a while.
My complaint remains tho ...even when he's completely right and people r just being insanely unreasonable he'll be angry on the inside but he'll cave in and say that he's wrong.
I understand that the MC is an emotionally scarred person and that his character has room to grow, but maaaan how many more books do we as readers have to deal with this negativity.
This is book 3, where is the development? Is it ever going to change?

Enjoyable

An excellent continuation of this fun and fairly unique to me story. I wish there was more to listen to.

A good continuation of the series

Luke Chmilenko has Sylvas continuing increasing his comradery with teammates through multiple social interactions, most involving getting blitzed on dwarven booze which lessens his paranoia, at least around them. Sylvas also does the Jedi mind trick one trick better by creating his own split personality acting as a dual brain and sidekick. Sylvas continues to mod his body in ways that would make Halo's Catherine Halsey envious except for him enduring the masochistic torture of it willingly.

There were a number of epic battles between factions where he meets his match and survives by doing something unknown to the Ardents which makes him an object of suspicion from his superiors and a target from his stalkers. One of which is shown to be one of his teammates who is responsible for another teammate's death and unforeseen debilitating betrayal.

Looking forward to next book in series.

Neil Hellegers' performance continues to provide a significant value-added feature to this series.

Annoying, condescending and bitchy Mira

I greatly enjoyed the first two books and was enjoying book 3 until Mira the voice in MC's head showed up around the 7th hour and relentlessy verbally abused the MC. May have been an attempt at humor but for me it was very annoying and ruined the story. Skipped ahead close to the last hour and Mira was still there plugging away at the MC. For me it was deal breaker and I returned book 3.

Terrible characters

MC doesn’t want to be used and manipulated yet at every opportunity he jumps at the chance to be used and manipulated. And to make things even more frustrating the organization that is supposedly the “good guys” is filled with incompetent buffoons that it makes it difficult to care at all about them and thus about the story being told. You can’t write a story where everyone is unlikable and then expect the reader to hold any ounce of interest once someone gets betrayed or backstabbed. The MC has no backbone and is also unlikable making it hard to even care about him. Just a poorly written book with zero care for the characters or world building.
