Filler

Not the best story in the current crop of Star Wars books but certainly not the worst. Filled in some of the back story on the bombers in last Jedi but it didn’t really go anywhere. Worth picking up if you’re a completionist but not if you’re a casual fan

Decent Into for Rose

The story was a decent intro for Rose and her sister. It also helped you get to know some of the Characters seen in Last Jedi. Over all a good story but not one I would listen to more than once.

It gives us more about Rose Tico.

This story takes place during the events of the Force Awakens. While it is interesting, it doesn't really give me more insight into who Rose Tico is or why she is important.

Not what i was hoping for.

This was a tougher one to finish. I was hoping it would flesh out Rose and her sister more as characters so that it would give more punch to their roles in the film. Sadly most of their characters are parroted from the movie and can be summed up in a few lines. there was no real growth from them or satisfying arcs from either one.

The actual story it self wasn't really there either and is pretty forgettable. its unfortunate that this didn't fall in line with some of the other starwars stories recently. empires fall comes to mind as an excellent trilogy and packs quite a bit more emotion and interesting characters compared to this.

as far as the performance goes. Kelly didnt seem like she was into it. the performance of one character in particular was difficult to understand because of some use of voice changing software. altogether not the worst though. just wishing she would have thrown in some emotion to let you feel the urgency this books action sorely needed.

TLDR: pass on this one. there are better performed and written starwars stories.

Couldn't even finish

I love Star Wars and I'v listened to many of there books but there's never been one I haven't finished. This book was the exception. Eight out of fifteen chapters and I was bored to tears. This is the second new Star Wars book I will be returning.

Not much here

Pretty boring. Most of the dialogue was monotone, the story was dull, and the reader didn't add anything to the characters.

A waste of time

I’m done falling for the Star Wars tie in scam. The stories are placeholders. In some cases they contain some context that should actually be in the films. This novel does nothing to build up a character who is poorly written in the film.

Story was boring and voices were non existent.

Having actors read audiobooks can habr mixed results. I really liked Ashley Ekstein in Ahsoka because that story was told almost exclusively from Ashokas voice or thoughts so having the voice of Ahsoka read everything was actually a positive. I had mixed feelings about Janina Gavankar in Inferno squad because she could habe showed more range but there was at least some differentiation between the voices of the characters. Here, the method didn't work at all. Kelly Marie Tran voiced Rose great but every other character sounded exactly the same. There was one conversation between Rose and Leia that I couldn't even follow cause they were exactly the same voice. On top of that issue the story was pretty boring even for a young reader books whuch Star Wars generally nails.
