Surprisingly epic!

So I started this book off a bit skeptic.. was worried it was just some religious filled book that would just annoy the crud out of me.

BOY WAS I WRONG!

This book was flippin EPIC! Strong female lead, dope powers, and hands down one of the coolest sidekicks ever!

Steve Campbell did an amazing job narrating this story, and I am beyond excited to fill my earholes with the next book!

I recommend that if you’re on the fence about this, jump over and listen, it’s well worth it!

Interesting, and original

I haven’t listen to or get into many apocalyptic type books, but this one was a bit different. No zombies or diseases, but a very interesting catastrophe.
The characters were very original with a couple typical bad guy types. The unfolds in a pretty fulling way and keeps your attention to the very end where you’ll be looking through audible to find the next installment.
The narrator was great! Characters were distinct and recognizable, very well spoken.

Thanks for the opportunity to review this book!

I very much enjoyed this story

I really liked this book. Kaplan does an excellent job in telling this story, I liked the way he uses flashbacks to fill in the storyline and it helps to develop the character. Steve Campbell does a very good job in narrating the story.

Dystopian Fantasy

I really enjoyed this story and I will not be spoiling anything but I do feel the need to start with my age rating as a parent previewing books for my kids.

Morality rating -PG 13 to R - There is some mild language, violence and mature sexual content. This is a darker story being in the dystopian category and it does get into what happens to women and little girls when society falls apart and how they can be raped and/or be forced into prostitution.

This was a great twist on a dystopian novel mixed with a fantasy. Everything has been destroyed and the people are starting over but parts of the population have been "star touched" and people are afraid and untrusting of them and their abilities. What would be challenging in normal circumstances is taken to new levels. This story bounces around a lot between past events and current among the main characters so it does take a level of concentration to keep up with it all and not get lost. I do think it starts off a bit confusing and slow but it is definitely worth the effort to stick with it.

Powerful Fantasy

So, I loved everything there was to love about this book from poor star-touched Tatiana to her amazing little sidekick.

After a lifetime on the run for her powers, Tatiana has finally found a place she can call home. Not everyone accepts her, but for once, she is at peace, and she is content with that. There is something shady going on in her new town though, and the city she comes to love begins to crumble.

Every character had a unique personality, and this book gave off an old southern cowboy vibe. All in all, it was a very enjoyable story for dystopia and fantasy fans.

Oh, and the narration was spot on!

Quite Imaginative

I really enjoyed this story. The storyline showed some excellent imagining by A.L. Kaplan. The timeline changes were at times a little confusing in the audiobook format, but not so much that the story suffered. I look forward to additional books.

Steve Campbell was excellent. I enjoyed his change in character voices. Made it easy to distinguish between characters.

Great Story

I had a little trouble getting into this book and under different circumstances might have stopped reading it and that would have been a major loss for me. This book was awesome and once I got into it i had trouble putting it down. This is an author to watch. Personally I'm going to check out what else they have written

Great!

This was a dystopian/fantasy novel that could be the start to a great series. The characters were strong and all so different, especially the villain. I still have a lot of questions, which kept it exciting and make me excited for the second book. I liked how the author took a different take on magic and healers that’s not your same old fantasy. I was given this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Promising dystopian post-apocalypse fantasy

I have to admit I did enjoy the first half of the book than the last. I really liked the slow pace of getting to know Tatiana and her dog Fifi, how she slowly builds up friendships while gradually learning about the cataclysm and her powers. Some people might be the other way and enjoy the hectic pace and action of the last third of the book.

The narrator was good and didn't distract me from the story and break my immersion. I would recommend this and I'm intrigued enough to want to listen to the further instalments.
