Publisher's Summary
They thought the harvest was over. But a darker evil is about to be revealed....
It has been more than a year since the offspring of Black River’s oldest families made their final stand against the evil Bell Witch. Their victory took a heavy toll and left the survivors scarred and estranged from their blood lines. But now, as they return home to their small, quiet town, they are shocked to discover a new evil, festering among the shadowy trees....
Without the threat of the Witch’s bloody harvest, the family elders have fallen into chaos. Internal squabbling has left them blind to this new enemy in their midst. Local legends have barely begun to fade when a group of tourists go missing. Some say the Witch has returned. But Basheba, Mina, and the others believe it could be something even worse.
As the survivors dig deeper, they discover that one of their own may have been corrupted by an ancient evil - a power greater than anything they have faced before. But is the Bell Witch behind all this? Has she returned once again to wreck vengeance on the families she cursed centuries ago?
Or does someone else lurk in the shadows, plotting to seize power for themselves?

what happened??
Series started good, but....
This feels like the most rushed of the series. There are way too many unexplored plot threads and storylines go unfinished. The book ends without any resolution or answers to the overall plot. The reading is as good as the previous 3 books in the series - that's the best I can say.

A great continuation of a fun horror series
After listening to a couple of duds, this series reinvigorated my interest in the genre and in audiobooks in general. The narrator does an excellent job with the voices, and though this particular book felt a tad more exposition-y and rushed than some of Clancy's earlier books, it was (I think) to set you up for the last two - which I can't wait to listen to! Definitely make sure you're listening in order though - it won't make sense if you start halfway through!

Do not miss this series! A+++
What can I say? I'm in love with this series.
I'm a Supernatural Horror fanatic. Monsters, ghosts, phantoms, interdementional demons,.. you name it. I love it.
I picked up this series on a whim. read a couple reviews and saw the omnibus. Was it a good value? 1000% in retrospect i would have been absolutely satisfied with buying all 6 books with credits. hands down.
Sarah Clancy brings the characters to life. Big time. Personalities, history, tendancies, likes dislikes, moods.. she paints the pictures. This is a series where you really get attached to the characters, which could mean attached to loving them, or hating them. but attached. Including, and especially, Buck. "The goodest boy of all good boys."
John Pirhalla is masterful in his delivery. Absolutely does great with various male and female voices, and quite a lot of them. Has a great range without having to make any sound just odd because he "ran out of voices". As a matter of fact he even nails a pretty tough accent in book 6. I rewound more than a few times just to hear Pirhalla's delivery on some random line. just stuff that made me smile. he's clearly a vocal artist.
The writing is done well, Friends in college called me "the grammar hammer" and it sticks with me to this day. I didnt catch a lot of odd words thrown in, try hard thesaurus stuff out of place, repeated phrases. Nothing odd really popped out at me as far as writing.
As far as content. Sarah paints a nice dark overall mood across, with plenty of humor and oddball things thrown in without getting ridiculous, i mean these are younger people/teenagers so they're bound to be silly at times, and she blends it in well. Laugh out loud a few times even. The supernatural aspects are eerie, spooke, scary, gross, haunting, startling, creative, big, small, horrific. i mean she checks off a lot of boxes in here. Each of the 6 books builds upon the previous, and with always something new. a new take on the adventure with new challenges and new events. The leviathan was great as it changes pace on the type of location much of it takes place in. none of the books felt like there was too much time taken in between where it felt disjointed, or felt forced like she had to put something out. just a great written plot and story.
I really can't say enough, in love with these books. I think the characters really shine. She paints them so well that you can empathize with all of the main characters and step into their shoes.
pick up the omnibus for a credit, it's a steal and you won't be sorry.
*Im leaving this review on each installment because im not big on talking about plot points in my review, im not giving a synopsis. and this review absolutely fits for each book, sarah clancy is masterful and john pirhalla delivers. in. each. one. A+

Should have quite while ahead.
This book is sadly a continuation of a series that frankly feels like it should have ended with the last book. After a fairly heroic and satisfactory grim ending to the last book this seeks to undermine the characters hard work. From here on out the horror aspects are sadly lacking, instead replaced by a more survival, action horror feeling as monsters become little more then video game enemies to be mowed down. While it is true that keeping the same characters throughout a long running horror series poses challenges, there are better ways to handle it. While you can expect characters to become accustomed and desensitized to the monsters and horrors it makes the times that they are scared of an old trick seem forced.
Over all this is the book were the author pivots from decent horror to something more akin to an urban fantasy, but fails to embrace the change.

Captivating
I really have come to love the main 4 characters "including Buck of course 🙂" I fine myself rooting for their survival. They make me laugh, especially Cadwin, Bahshiba and Buck 😂 its a race against evil. Will they make it, I'd suggest listning to all five books to find out. I have the last one "The lathiathin" in my wish list! Best series I have heard in a long time.
