Publisher's summary

"I shall baptize you, sir, and my baptism will burn your folly and flesh away!"

A year has passed since Auric Manteo descended into the haunted depths of a Djao ruin to return a lethal artifact, only to face down a bloodthirsty, imprisoned god. Now, his daughter, Agnes, comes to bring him back to the capital with promises of hidden secrets finally revealed.

But the city decays, poisonous disorder is rife, and whispered prophecy foretells of cataclysm and doom. Summoned by their no-longer human queen, Auric and Agnes are commanded to carry out an impossible task, one that can be accomplished only with the mysterious blade, Szaa’da’shaela, gifted to Auric on a lunatic's whim.

Can Auric and his daughter survive a journey fraught with blood, menace, and madness? And can they pay the price demanded by a being every bit as evil as the Aching God?

not as good as the first book, but still an amazing read. the narrator is God tier and does a great job reading this book.

Incredible story by Shel and beautifully narrated by Vance

Simon Vance’s performance had me enthralled with the second installment of Mike Shel’s Iconoclast series. An engaging sequel to Aching God that kept me wanting more. Looking forward to listening to the final installment of the trilogy.

An amazing must read dnd style adventure story.

I loved this book and it was just as good as the first. Idols fall is next and I excited for how it will end!

DnD style Horror Fantasy

Author combines horror and fantasy elements that invoke a true sense of dread. An excellent follow up for the Aching God.

Fantasy beautifully written

story has unique perspective. reads more like expert literature then the inane ceiling of other fantasy writers. makes you appreciate each line and also adds to your own aspirations to write and speak more eloquently and intelligently

A great sequel, feels like playing D&D

A very fun listen, just like Aching God. Listening to these made me feel like I was playing D&D, or Darkest Dungeon. Hell, it inspired me to pick Darkest Dungeon back up and name my estate "The Syraeic League". The pace of Sin Eater is quicker than Aching God, as the setting and world building largely already accomplished. This makes for a fast paced, engaging adventure that keeps you captivated all the way through

These books are intense!

Found this series off a random reddit thread searching for something new to dig into. when I saw there were audiobook versions I figured why not give it a go. So glad I did!

not as good as #1

it was a good book of course but it wasn't as scary as Aching god and without that then this is just another fantasy book
