Publisher's summary

In order to finally claim her title of Chosen and lead the Shadow People out of the Land of Mist, Shanti must make it through a centuries-old system to test her battle awareness, her fighting skill, and her ability to stay alive. She's about to enter The Trials, and she must do it alone.

Separated from Shanti on a dangerous island, Cayan must learn to use his mental skill while keeping his men safe from the people set out to kill them. But as more Inkna and Graygual flood the island, Cayan hears of a sinister force deep in the woods, rigging The Trials and killing any who venture too close.

It is now a race against time. The battle to become the Chosen has begun, and the victor is anything but decided.

Story ok but bad narration

The story has picked up Characters development. Is likable. Our heroine is coming out. Of her guarded shell. And letting her feelings. Be expressed. Good action. And sword playing. Mixed with magic.
If you can put up with someone reading like that it will be enjoyable but I find it very distracting. I thought it was just me but I got my wife to listen for her opinion and within 15 seconds she was OMG how can you listen to that. She got better with each new book but still bad and when I listened to the trailer for the next one it’s 10 times worse.
Even for an included freebie I can’t go on

Very good book

Thoroughly enjoying the series. I just don’t like what audible is doing keeping the last two books out of the audible plus collection. I see it with a lot of the series. I suppose I understand why but still it’s frustrating

Book 3

Any additional comments?

Adventurous, fighting, battle planning, trials, poisoning, friendship, trust, and romance all wrapped up in this exciting third edition to The Warrior Chronicles series. This book really delivers it all. Highly recommend the series and this book. Book could be read as a standalone but I'd suggest reading the first two books first.

Exciting and Cool

I really enjoyed the balance the author established between seriousness and humor. Very well written book that shows women in strong roles without losing femininity. Also depicted men confident in their masculinity without being obnoxious. Overall, a great story.

I can’t get over it

I love kayen and shanti- they have something we all long for and it pulls at all the bits of me!! I adore the banter- it’s the best part of the story. SLIGHT SPOILER; the retrieval of the cubs as a gift (which they didn’t know) broke me! Kayens story of how his mom passed and what he was doing earlier that same day, lent a vulnerability that I wasn’t expecting from him and the fact that shanti knew she had to help him right the past made it so powerful!!

I said this in my last book review of the previous story in this series; but KF Breene is a genius story teller. She nails the depth and detail and is insanely funny as well! Chefs kiss!
