really good read but really needs to be rerecorded

What did you love best about No Degree, No Problem?

I like the story which is similar to mine, and also I like how he had a chapter with a nice list format for a roadmap. I do not know if the materials are entirely outdated as I'm new to Ruby but, what really needs an update is the entire audible recording. It was incredibly choppy. I took away from Performance for it. The authors reading was fine, it was the recording that was a problem. There were several points where he appeared to make an edit and the background tone changed (not sure how to describe it) but it was obvious, to say it best. Very distracting which definitely altered the experience. I toughed it out because it really is a great story and example as to how to follow his lead. I think the advice is still applicable today but the resources may or may not be ideal in 2017.

What did you like best about this story?

Author was authentic.

What didn’t you like about Adam Syron’s performance?

His voice was good but the actually recording needs to be redone. All those edits really destroyed the experience for me. Audible fans are often audio preference learners so, it just really needs to be done. Pace however was great and the inflection in his voice was great because it added to the personal nature of the story. Very inspirational.

Any additional comments?

Really hoping they add the ebook soon because even if the checklist is outdated, it still would have been a nice reference for strategy.

Skip the audiobook buy the ebook

If you could sum up No Degree, No Problem in three words, what would they be?

Good information, points to good resources, bad format

Any additional comments?

The book has some pretty good information, the issue with this book being an audio book is there are a lot of references to outside resources. So you will miss the links if you go with this format.

It would better as paperbook

It is great book to hear his start point but it would better as paperbook. Because there are some bullet point that you may want to take a note but it is hard to do that in audiobook.

Should be titled how to be a ruby developer

SOME good advice in general, but not worth the listen. Too focused on ruby on rails.
