Publisher's summary

In the final chapter of the Hellequin Chronicles, secrets will be revealed, friendships tested, and destinies fulfilled.

Avalon is under siege. A shadowy cabal, headed by a mysterious figure known only as "My Liege", has launched a series of deadly attacks across the globe, catching innocent human bystanders in the crossfire.

Emerging from the debris of battle, Nate Garrett, the 1600-year-old sorcerer also called Hellequin, and his friends must stop My Liege once and for all. But powerful forces stand in their way. To save Avalon, they will need to enlist the help of Mordred, once Nate's greatest nemesis, now his most formidable ally. But Mordred is grappling with a dark prophecy that could spell Nate's doom...

The fate of the world hangs in the balance. Even if Nate can halt the war, will there be anything left worth saving?

One mistake...

Good, but Nate's wife's name was Jane not Mary. Other than that, it was excellent.

Simon's narration is great

it took a book but Simon has grown on me as the narrator for the series. he really captures the banter and humorous tone between the characters. the story doesn't stagnate and this story moves with a good pacethe series into a new darker direction.

time lines

I had some issues with the time lines but I looked past them and over all enjoyed the book.

Story doesn't end with book 7

beware that this book doesn't wrap everything up. there is obviously a next series planned.

Losing steam

The series needs to finish soon, it is losing steam and becoming convoluted. I hope it doesn't become a Dresden files like series.

Do mother change narrators in mid series.

Why in the world would you change narrators? Mattacks' impressions are very different, to say the least. It almost ruined it. Unfortunately, it looks like we are stuck with him. Langton was MUCH better.

Thrilling Book with Multiple Secrets Exposed

Scorched Shadows
Hellequin Chronicles, Book 7
By: Steve McHugh
Narrated by: Simon Mattacks
This book had a lot more of Mordred in it. So much was revealed in this book but this is to be the last but I still have questions....Ugh! Oh well, I guess I will have to use my imagination. I have really enjoyed this series! Recommend this to any fantasy lover out there, so good! You must read in order.
The narrator was great, very good with the multitude of voices and emotions. Well done!

Fantasic!!

I've loved this story from the start. Took me awhile to get use to the narrator shift. Not sure why Nate's wife's name was changed in this book. kinda bothered me a tad, but was still in love with the story. I hope this isn't the end there is still so much left to tell.

Excellent book and excellent narration!

All the previous books and storylines come together in this final installment. I think it's the best book in the series!

Great! new twists, turns and nightmare

In a twist this book has an additional point of view, on top of the destructive/self-destructive Nate we now also get Mordred, which is just like having a second alternate Nate to follow.

if you liked the previous books, you'l love this one, and you might consider buying a whip to attempt getting steve's publisher to release the next books sooner rather than later.

one note: we have an answer to Schrodinger's Nate - it is both dead and alive at the same time!
