Publisher's Summary

Continuing the milestone 50th anniversary celebration of Star Trek - an epic new trilogy that stretches from the events of The Original Series movie The Search for Spock to The Next Generation!

The Klingon-Federation alliance is in peril as never before. Lord Korgh has seized control of the House of Kruge, executing a plot 100 years in the making. The Klingon cult known as the Unsung rampages across the stars, striking from the shadows in their cloaked Birds-of-Prey. And the mysterious figure known as Buxtus Cross launches a scheme that will transform the Klingon Empire forever.

Into danger flies Admiral William T. Riker and the USS Titan, charged with protecting the peace forged nearly a century before during the Khitomer Accords. Aided by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the USS Enterprise, Riker and his officers scour the stars, seeking to find the Unsung and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy before time runs out.

Yet even as Commander Worf departs on a deeply personal mission of honor, hidden sinister forces seek to turn the crisis to their advantage. And the conspirators' plans threaten to spiral out of control, jeopardizing the very empire they aspire to rule.

    "Excellent story, great series"

I’m a fan of Star Trek novels and content. This is one of the best Star Trek series I’ve read. Book 2, The Jackal’s Trick is a wonderful addition to this series. I love the story and the twists and turns. Each twist is interesting and useful, not just a way to prolong the story. I can’t wait for Book 3.

"Such a great series, need to see how it ends. NOW"

This book is really great it tells so much about your favorite Next Generation characters. and so much more you know I have actually met Tim Russ and the next time I see him I'm going to tell him about this book because Tuvok plays such an instrumental role that he needs to know his characters still alive and well in the Star Trek universe.

"Dear Kahless let there be a good ending!!"

Like the Empire Stikes Back, it leaves off on a hollow ending but thats only because the end is still to come. Just can't wait.

"Book 2 of the Trilogy Star Trek Prey."

The narration was outstanding, Robert Petkoff gets better at the character voices with each new book. The story continues to build momentum but there is no resolution that satisfies yet. I will look for that in the final book, which is only natural.

    "Love this series!"

If you are a Star Trek fan, you will enjoy this series of books. The author tied in characters from the original Star Trek all the way to Voyager. Not to mention a brief reference to the TV series Enterprise. You may think you put all the pieces together, but there is some good twists that you won't see coming. I hope the powers that be in the Star Trek universe continue to produce new Star Trek novels!

    "still great."

Not as good as the First in the prey series, due to some pacing issues, but still a great addition to the Star Trek novels.

    "More unabridged Star Trek please!"
What made the experience of listening to The Jackal's Trick the most enjoyable?

If you make it we will buy it! More unabridged trek please audible! John Jackson Miller's Prey Series is a must listen for all Trek fans. Quite an undertaking this story line is complex and spans many different Trek timeline eras. John kept the story interesting throughout all 3 in his Prey Series and his battle scenes are some of the best the trek authors have to offer

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Robert Petkoff is brilliant! After losing Leonard Nimoy I was concerned about who would be attempting to fill the Trek narration void, Petkoff has made his own place in the series he's definitely got the job hopefully he's kept on for the long haul he's fabulous! Was careful to make sure all Klingon was properly pronounced he brings these stories to life he's great!

    Any additional comments?

John Jackson Miller is one of the better Trek authors in the universe. Here's to hoping audible brings more of his work to life!

    "More engaging than part 1"

I'm really enjoying this story arc. Seeing a race from the series brought into the book series has been really enjoyable. Looking forward to the best book to see how it concludes

"Exactly the Star Trek story we need"

The series (so far) has been brisk and fun. it features a large cast of characters, and plays out like an HBO series.
I would note: there are some fairly heavy handed allusions to political figures and events in the USA. I enjoyed it, as it felt like the Enterprise crew showed up after the 2016 election and were dumbfounded by what they saw.
If you're OK with the former head of Breitbart being one of the most influential non-elected people in the country, this series might bother you.
