Publisher's summary

Alex's life is turned upside down when he discovers he is a demigod with some pretty cool powers. However as soon as he comes of age he triggers a curse which was created by the father of the Norse gods, Odin, to keep gods and humans apart. As a result, one of the gateways to Helheim has been breached and Hel, the goddess of the underworld, is about to be released to wreak havoc. According to an ancient prophecy, Alex is the only one who can stop her. When gods and humans mix, it only means trouble, and Alex is about to find a whole lot of that as he embarks on an adventure with his friends to fulfill the prophecy. His journey brings him closer to Becca, the girl he is desperate to date, but with the constant challenges he has to face, this will not be the easiest first date.

This book is the first in a trilogy where Alex will be forced by circumstances to visit worlds he never knew existed and meet his immortal family. He soon realizes they can be more embarrassing than your average family....

Nonstop Action

Fast-paced adventure of Alex, Thor's son, and his friends trying to save the world. Alex gets sidetracked when he tries to fix one problem, another problem arises that he has to fix first. Really enjoyed it.

Life is not always fair.

This was an interesting story about the son of a god and a prophecy. Does that sound familiar? Yes, the Percy Jackson and Magnas Chase books. It is a clever tale, but it used a big Norse god. I would recommend giving it a read.

All over the nine worlds!

Well, maybe not all of them, yet, but I have a feeling Debbie Champion will get to that.
This was an extremely fun listen. For fans of Rick Riordan’s Magnus Chase series, you will find a delightful alternative outlet in the Cursed Sword, with references to some of the legends not used before. Our mc Alex Thornnson is charged with saving the world via a legendary cursed weapon. There are many journeys along the way that range from Svatalfhein to Losalfheim, and it’s a fun adventure all around.
The narration was flawless as well, and I can’t think of anything to criticize.
Well done, Debbie Champion! I’ll be looking forward to more of this series.
