Publisher's Summary

All-new action in the number-one New York Times best-selling urban fantasy series.

When mechanic and shapeshifter Mercy Thompson attempts to return a powerful Fae book she'd previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down. It seems the book contains secret knowledge - and the Fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands.

And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side - leaving Mercy to cover for him, lest his own father declare Sam's life forfeit.

All in all, Mercy has had better days. And if she isn't careful, she might not have many more to live.

Have Mercy: listen to another Mercy Thompson chiller.

Lorelei King

Without a doubt, she is the most talented narrator ever. Love this book series, love the author, but so very much wanted to give special kudos to Lorelei King.

A great series just keeps getting better!

I really enjoyed Sam in this book. He spends a lot of time in wolf form which leads to some funny, playful moments as well as some poignant scenes as Sam the wolf fights to keep Samuel the man alive. Ms Briggs really gets dogs. Some of her descriptions of Sam's antics had me laughing out loud.

One of the themes of this book is the pack bond and what it means to be part of a pack, for better or for worse. Mercy is alternately freaked out and comforted by the voices in her head. I like the pack dynamic that allows for redemption for bad behavior. Neither Adam nor Bran give up easily on their wolves and Mercy always finds the good in other people.

There are several quite touching scenes between Mercy and Adam as well as an exciting fight scene as a pack member challenges Adam for alpha status. And I loved that Sam finally found happiness.

Lorelei King is as always a superb narrator. She is one of the rare voice actors that can do both male and female voices equally well.
