Publisher's Summary

For the last century, one bard after another has come into The Drunken Unicorn to sing about the prophecy blazing from the wall in shiny, blue neon. Galdris, the new owner, has had enough. He'll stop at nothing to remove the prophecy that has tormented him since he bought the inn. Even if it means fulfilling it.

A comedic look at self-fulfilling prophecies.

A quick but fun story.

A fun story about a bar with a prophecy on the wall that drives the bar owner nuts, since all the bards keep singing about it. He tries anything he can think of to get rid of it, and it turns out the prophecy is self fulfilling. It is a cautionary tale about being careful what you ask for, since you might actually get it. Fun characters, the plot device of the prophecy is well thought out and the bar owner's attempts to get rid of it are hilarious. Well worth your time for a quick listen, expecially since Michael Gilboe does such a good job of narrating.

Amusing Short Story

This was a good, funny (not laugh out loud funny, but amusing enough to not get bored) little tale. I do feel like it could have been about five minutes shorter and managed to keep the audience more engaged, particularly for kids. It has a classic proverbial feel to it.

Well Worth Your Time

This short story is incredibly entertaining and very much worth a listen. It's clever, it's funny and I was a bit sorry it was over as soon as it was. It's the kind of story I could imagine being told while sitting next to a campfire. Michael Gilboe is a talented reader and really made the story alive in audio form. Also The Drunken Unicorn is pretty much the best tavern name ever. I'll certainly be checking out the other short stories that Moss has released.

Prophecy by Barlight

Any additional comments?

This short story, narrated brilliantly by Michael Gilboe, was conceived with a few words a professor tossed out to his class to make a story from.I enjoyed that fact tossed in at the end.The Inn has stood for hundreds of years.Long ago a Wizard cursed a wall with a curse that will last forever. The latest owner is at his wits end trying to remove the curse. He's tried nearly everything...will he EVER get rid of it?

I enjoyed listening to this book. Good story with a tight plot. The storyline is dynamic and it keeps you eager to learn the rest.
The story reminded me with some stories from the old European literatures. It combines the elements of comedy and fantasy.

Quick, Humorous, and Satisfying

A humorous story told with amusing voices results in a rewarding listening experience. I very much enjoyed Prophecy by Barlight. The twists in the tale may not be unexpected, but they are very satisfying. It's not easy to write a funny story but Moss has succeeded here. I'm glad to have this tale in my audio library for whenever I want a fantasy tale to put a smile on my face.

Beware the Prophecy

What’s the saying? ‘Good things come in small packages.’ In a short amount of time, Crissy Moss does a good job creating a world and introducing characters without making the story seem incomplete or rushed. I appreciate an author who can write a good short story because it can be harder to write a short and fulfilling story that gets across character emotions in few words; than to write a long epic where you can use a forest's worth of pages. This story was a fun and enjoyable read.

I don’t normally listen to short stories, I usually read them, but the narrator, Michael Gilboe brought this story to life. The various voices and accompanying tone added to the story, in a nicely done audio production. I think part of the enjoyment I got from listening was because Gilboe made it just like listening to a story by a travelling storyteller - It was perfect for this story.
