Publisher's summary

To Ride Pegasus
They are extraordinary people who read minds, heal bodies, divert disasters, foretell the future - and become pariahs in their own land. Molly, Charity, Barbara, Dorotea, Amalda - they are the Talents - an elite cadre that have stepped out of the ordinary human race to enter their own!

Pegasus in Flight
As Director of the Jerhattan Parapsychic Center, telepath Rhyssa Owen coordinates the job assignments for the psychically gifted Talents in her group. She is always ready to welcome new Talents to the Center, even though she has her hands full dealing with the unreasonable demand for kinetics to work on building the space platform that will be mankind's stepping stone to the stars. But when an extraordinary man with no measurable Talents appears, Rhyssa suddenly realizes that she will need to reassess the potential of all Talentkind.

I love this prequel to the tower series

Lots of intrigue mixed with some action and a little romance. I love the tower series almost more than Pern.

Low Audio Quality

I loved finding an audio copy of this edition, but the audio quality was so poor I could not listen.

Unabridged is better!

The only thing I truly can dislike about this book, is that they abridged it. The parts that were cut out actually do help explain and enrich the rest of the story, and unfortunately, I have never seen an unabridged audio version. Otherwise the story is engaging and fun and the characters truly shine! The way the generational gaps are bridged between both stories really makes you want to learn more!

Two books in one.

Great story! One problem-you need to put the first book (To Ride Pegasus) in the primary or first position, so you can listen to it first.

A wonderful start to the Talent books.

These two stories are the beginning of the Talent series. Henry Darrow founds the psyonic Talents, and Peter the next huge leap.

Disappointed

I love these books. I am disappointed in the way they are portrayed here. The narrator isn't bad. Unfortunately they cut out so much of the meat of the book. Much of the humor of this wonderful author was sucked out of the book when they abridged it.

Book One starts at Chapter 18 which is very frustrating. The book naturally jumps from time to time because that is how it's written. The unfortunate part comes into play due to the fact that they didn't make any audible notification of the jumps. All of the parts just roll together.

As a whole, I am saddened by this representation of beloved stories

Flipped, Not Full

First realize the books are out of order. Start at Chapter 18 to the end, then go to Chapter 1.

This is one of my long time favorite books, so I am very familiar with it, so when I heard them skip over sections, even though minor, it was jarring and annoying. Presumably they did it to trim down the time.

Aside from that, the reader was excellent and was able to switch accents cleanly. Good job it just needs some tweaks.

A Must read for any Tower fan

Would you consider the audio edition of Pegasus in Flight & To Ride Pegasus to be better than the print version?

no, first it is Abridged, and second it is backward. The first book in the is presented second with the second book done first

Great Story, Narrator too rushed.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

An excellent story, interesting cultural situations and characters.

What did you like best about this story?

The main characters tend to be admirable and competent. Surprising situations abound.

What didn’t you like about Adrienne Barbeau’s performance?

She has a nice familiar voice. Sadly, she's in way too much of a hurry and it sounds as if it were recorded under a bucket.

Did Pegasus in Flight & To Ride Pegasus inspire you to do anything?

Inspired me to read Pegasus in Space.

Any additional comments?

The narration reminds me of many of the old "lighthouse for the blind" recordings where a reader seems to be reading for speed. The production quality is not so good, sounds like it was recorded under a bucket. That said, I did enjoy the story and I got used to the narration speed.

Abridged Version SHAME ON YOU

The books are in order but you may need to reset your listening speed,, it's one of the few books I have had to do that with each time I have listened tothe book.. Abrigded version SHAME ON YOU. AS ALWAY ANNE MCCAFFREY IS A GREAT AUTHOR, HER BOOKS HAVE TRAVELED THE WORLD WITH ME AND IN TURN SHE HAS OPENED AND SHARED NEW WORLDS WITH ME TO TRAVEL. ADRIENNE BARBEAU BROUGHT THE BOOK ALIVE, I LOOK FORWARD TO HER READING MORE OF ANNE MCCAFFREY AS WELL AS OTHER AUTHORS. ...UNFORTUNATELY ABRIDGED VERSION AND ONCE AGAIN SHAME ON YOU.
