Publisher's Summary

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake.

So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave?

Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

The one who's being pursued by...something.

So when the mysterious traveler finally reappears, Eli's determined that this time, he's going to get some answers. But his hunt soon yields far more than he bargained for, plunging him headlong into a dizzying world full of competing factions and figures straight out of legend.

To make sense of the mystery at its heart, he must embark on a breakneck chase across the country and through two centuries of history - with nothing less than America's past, present, and future at stake.

    "Dumb Storyline"

If you can suspend your disbelief upon reading the main plot concept, then go for it, but I couldn't believe that a writer that I normally enjoy reading could come up with such a preposterous idea. The American Dream is a magical spell made by an Egyptian God!? It's utterly ridiculous.

I normally don't like Time Travel books. That said, this is possibly the best one I've ever read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A terrific book from Peter Clines and, once again, Ray Porter delivers a fantastic performance.

Peter Clines does not disappoint. The description may sound like an overused time travel trope, but it had many unique aspects to make it a very enjoyable read (listen).

    "Interesting read. No spoilers."

Okay, so you're probably looking at this title because you've read 14 and The Fold. This book has a similar feel as those two in SOME ways. It talks heavily about time travel. Well, "history travel," as the book states several times...Usually, in response to a character calling it time travel.

Initially, I remember thinking "okay, yeah... those reviews were right. I wonder if I can get a refund on my credit?" I stuck it out longer because I've really enjoyed this author in the past, and He uses Ray porter frequently for narration and he is GREAT.

I felt the story moved a little slow at first. It was hours into narration before I even cared about what was going on. The story itself is very unique. sometimes I wonder where he comes up with these ideas. Once you finish the book, you'll see that there was a lot of thought put into it. There are also a few twist that are interesting.
On the downside, there are still things that I don't understand. Perhaps, it's just because this concept was way too intricate for my little mind to follow. (Like I said, a lot of thought was put into it)
It's not a book where I found myself being really invested in the characters, at least, not like I was in 14. I think maybe this book focuses more on the story, and the two leads are just used to further it.
But I will tell you my first impression was wrong. This IS a good book and worth a read. 14 is still my favorite. If you haven't read that yet, please start with it. Otherwise, I'm not sure you'll give this book a chance once you get into it.

    "Nicely done!"

Everything you've come to expect from Peter Clines and Ray Porter, with a nice (tiny little) tie in with his other Lovecraft based fiction. Very relatable characters, love the history references and bringing some American Icons into the mix. It would be challenging to tie in historical facts and these icons into to this fictional art work, but it all worked nicely. Easy to follow along unlike some other time oops, I mean "history" traveling stories. Ray Porter is always a brilliant narrator cannot praise him enough. It would be nice to see a sequel come into fruition, but there are no cliff hangers to make you frustrated :)

    "Time travel mind boggler!"

Very well-done time conundrum tale. Lots of humor. Lots of clever names. Lots of time twists. Cool cars. A train! A happy ending. And Ray Porter.

If you like hurting your brain with time paradoxes, this is a good one.

    "Just an amazing cosmic adventure"

What a superb cosmic tale, from Peter Clines, a writer that has simply blown me away with every book i read from him. Marvelous characters that just grow on you, and dialogue that flows so naturally.
I had the audiobook version which was narrated by the ultra awesome Ray Porter.
I still maintain id buy an audio book on how to watch paint dry if Ray Porter was narrating it.
Peter Clines obviously agrees as this is not the first time the two have collaborated.
Paradox Bound is a history traversing wonder journey, that cleverly drifts back and forth through scenes, to tie up loose ends, and feels like an out of control rollercoaster in the dark.
So enjoyable i felt a real sense of loss when it had finished.
