Publisher's summary

Young Ilien knows nothing of the dark tales told around late-night fires or of the legendary Nomadin wizards and the prophesy that haunts them. But all that is soon to change. For a shadow touches the peaceful land of Nadae. An ancient evil is stirring. Already a NiDemon has crossed from the land of the dead.

Now Ilien must run - from a monster of unimaginable cunning and power, toward a fate more frightening than that which hunts him. But he cannot run forever. Eventually he will have to make a stand. Sooner or later he will have to face what even the legendary Nomadin cannot.

A Superb Fantasy Tale

This audiobook was absolutely fantastic! Shawn P. Cormier's fantasy tale of a young boy off on a quest to stop foul creatures, and discover himself, is woven perfectly together. Cormier injects fierce action, superb comedy, along with timely surprises that I never saw coming. Besides all of these characteristics, Shawn P. Cormier definitely knows how to write with heart. The deep emotion that this author places along his passages truly remains with the reader, over the chapters. Nomadin features one of the best cliffhanger endings that I have ever had the honor of reading, as it only caused me to instantly wish to read the sequel book, titled NiDemon. Good show, Mr. Cormier! To only add to this audio tale is the phenomenal narrator, Jus Sergeant. He can manipulate his voice is a wide variety of directions in order to play the comedic and dramatic very deftly.

In terms of author influences for Nomadin, I would surely choose both J.R.R. Tolkien, and Terry Brooks as strong sources. However, I barely thought of these two writers while reading this novel. Cormier's ideas are so original, they pull your focus to his graceful writing style, not another's. This originality is seldom seen among many book writers in today's world, which awards Shawn Cormier additional applause, in my mind.

Overall, this book was outstanding. I eagerly am anticipating the release of the sequel audiobook.
