A religious book

There should be a disclaimer stating that this is a holy roller religious book. I would not have purchased this had I known. Bummer.

waste of time and $

a dull droning southern california sob story full of uninteresting facts and more than a bit of fiction. Many of the relationships sound contrived and were no doubt made up by the author to spice up her story.

Illuminating, Inspiring, and Heartbreaking

This book gave me so many feelings. Human trafficking is close to my heart, but hearing it from her point of view gave me an even greater understanding of part of the sex industry that I had never considered or comprehended.

Also, I appreciated having the book read by the author, herself. It adds her actual emotions to the story. Couldn't recommend more.

So Good!

Loved reading this book. It takes you places that are familiar yet unbelievable. Her story shows us how Gods love always prevails if we listen. I look forward to more books from Harmony.

Very awesome and hard work put in!

Man, the last part of the book got me hooked. I found out about it through the "Fight the New Drug" interview. I found where I was lost from my faith again, I found my place. I would recommend any catholic or Christian to read this. Incredible information found inside. Beautifully written.

Captivating, raw, and inspiring...

Listening to Harmony narrate her own memoir made the experience of her audio book even more special and intimate. Harmony’s story is a painful one - the sexual abuse and neglect, the childhood exposure to pornography, drugs, and gangs, her deepfelt insecurity and longing for a sense of belonging and safety. This is what leads Harmony into an abusive relationship with an older man, and, ultimately, the sex industry. But for all the pain and tragedy, Scars and Stilettos is funny, (like laugh out loud funny at times), touching, hopeful, educational, inspiring and encouraging. I love how faith and friendship are found in the most unusual of places and how Harmony goes beyond her own personal journey of healing to eventually help other women across the globe with her non-profit, Treasures. This book is for anyone, but as a mental health professional, I found it particularly valuable.

Life giving and transformative

I’ve read this book several times, but hearing Harmony read her words was so life giving. The prose is so powerful and I can imagine every scene. This is a first hand account of Harmony’s life, the path that led her into the sex industry and the hope that helped her leave. Scars and Stilettos helps us grow in empathy and understanding for others, and to explore the power of your own story as you listen to Harmony share hers.
