A gripping story

This story held my interest from the beginning, despite the rather lame accents the narrator used on occasion. I will definitely look for more by this author.

Fire the narrator - Celeste Ciulla

Irene Hannon writes stories with amazing credible mysteries , crime scene and a touch of romance.Clean and inspiring.

Celeste ciulla should not narrate these stories. Had I not already been familiar with Hannons stories, I would have never finished it.
The narrator sucked, she was obviously not familiar with the story as she lacked the ability to bring the characters to life, and failed to act out the characters. Don't use her again.

Good...but

What did you love best about Vanished?

The story line was okay. A bit predictible, but interesting.

Would you be willing to try another book from Irene Hannon? Why or why not?

Yes. It wasn't too bad. Passes the time.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator is the main reason I'm leaving a review. As a person, I'm sure that she's lovely, and she has a great voice. BUT she pauses in all the wrong places and the voices she uses for different characters just doesn't fit. It just doesn't flow and can be very annoying.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nope.

Any additional comments?

Good book, not so good narrator.

Very exciting

Loved this romantic suspense, it was extremely well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. The narrator was excellent as well and really added to the story.

Story is good. Narrator...not so much.

I like Irene Hannon's stories and was glad to see a new one was available. I wish I had bought the print version instead of the Audible recording. While I found the story good, the narration was not. More than once I turned it off and considered returning it. I'm not sure how to discribe what I so disliked. Celeste Ciulla does not do male voices well and there were many times that I wasn't sure which character was speaking. The thing that really annoyed me was her inflection and emphasis. Many times she sounded like a fifth grader that the teacher warned to watch puncuation and to add emotion when you read. Ms. Ciulla is not whiney or shrill, just flat with force emotion. On the whole the narrator ruined this listen for me. She is certainly not the worst I've heard but I will think twice about using a credit on another of her performances.

Great story but narrator was bad

Great book! I always enjoy Irene Hannon’s stories. Good mystery and intrigue with just the right amount of romance. The only negative was rh

Narrator sounds like SIRI on steroids

If you can’t get over a robotic voice, this is not for you. It’s not terrible, it literally sounds like I am listening to Siri who just had some brainiacs work on her to give a little inflection in her voice. The story is pretty good though.

Good story, terrible narration

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator - she grated, especially her male voices. Previous Irene Hannon romantic suspense novels had been narrated either by men or Therese Plummer and were terrific. Not so with this one.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Celeste Ciulla?

Therese Plummer - she's fabulous or any of the males who had narrated some of Ms. Hannon's other books.

Was Vanished worth the listening time?

It wasn't wasted, per se, I'll just be sure not to listen to this performer again.

Any additional comments?

I'm a big fan of Irene Hannon, having listened to most of her books on Audible. I liked this story, too, unfortunately the narration left a lot to be desired. The story itself was a typical Hannon romantic suspense, although the Christian overtones were more subdued that in previous previous series. The action moved forward at an appropriate pace, as did the romance. Knowing the villain's identity early made this more of a chess match than a who done it, but the ending was satisfying knowing that justice was finally served. There are two more books in this series and I want to know what happens in them, but I will probably read rather than listen to them. Story 4 stars, but narration only 1.

Really good book

Was really good but not really deep. Light mystery. I love the Christian Mystery books that they keep morals &don't do sensual sex scenes but most of them write on a teenage level . This one is like that. It is good but just really light.

excellant read

Would you listen to Vanished again? Why?

YES, I love series books and enjoy going back years later and re reading them and this is a keeper

What other book might you compare Vanished to and why?

Dee Henderson's books

What does Celeste Ciulla bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good reader, I usually prefer male readers but she was excellant
