Publisher's Summary

After seven years as a Chicago homicide detective, Lisa Grant has hit a wall. Ready for a kinder, gentler life, she takes a job as a small-town police chief. But the discovery of a human skeleton by a construction crew at the edge of town taxes the resources of her department.

A call for assistance brings detective Mac McGregor, an ex-Navy SEAL, to her doorstep. As they work to solve the mystery behind the unmarked grave, danger begins to shadow them. Someone doesn't want this dead person telling any tales - and will stop at nothing to make certain a life-shattering secret stays buried.

Master storyteller Irene Hannon is back with an exciting new series featuring former special forces operatives now in the thick of the action in civilian life. Hannon is at the top of her game in this can't-pause-it thriller that will have listeners up until the wee hours, devouring every minute.

Absolutely fantastic

This is my first book of your's Irene Hannon, and I absolutely loved it, and will certainly be listening to more. The narrator was lovely too and made you believe it was real! Also lovely to read books that don't compromise on the Word of God, I have no interest in secular books anymore and am thrilled that there are fantastic authors in the Christian novels. Thank you and God bless you!

Buried Secrets

As always I loved this story. I would have preferred a little less of the romance, the"hot" remarks were a little excessive. All of it was clean. The suspense was intriguing and entertaining. The killer's M.O. was unique and mysterious. The McGregor brothers are interesting and I'm looking forward to their continued adventures. I have a soft spot for military and law enforcement characters. Lisa is an amazing police chief. She and Mac made a formidable crime fighting team. Plus add a dog and the plot is complete. The narrator was superb and added another wonderful dimension to an already superb story. I'm getting ready to listen to Thin Ice, the next in the series.

struggling to finish

6 hours in and I'm so bored. So far the only thing remotely intestine is the bad guy. Both MCs are so bland and boring that listening to their portion of the story is excruciating.

Edge of your seat listening

Where does Buried Secrets rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Buried Secrets rates in the top 3 of the books that I have listened to so far. It is the first book I have listened to by Irene Hannon.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lisa was my favorite character because I liked how spunky she was in investigating the case as well as how she managed the handsome Mac MacGregor. She was good at keeping him off balance and he intelligently and carefully managed her too.

Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer and Jennifer Grace – was your favorite?

Again it was Lisa. I loved how they performed her when she was thinking to herself about the case and MacGregor.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when she went to Lisa's house to kill her and Mac couldn't reach her because Jessica was pushing her to exercise so that her blood sugar would bottom out. As she was losing her ability to keep going as her blood sugar plummeted it was tense wondering if Mac would get to her in time to save her. Then it was heart warming when he was with her as the paramedics were reviving her.

Any additional comments?

I love Irene Hannon's books. She is a new author to me and I am eager to listen to more of her books.

Enjoyed this book.

I usually don't like books that you know who the killer is but I did like this one. It was very interesting with lots of twists and turns.

Just wonderful

Not is the story totally awesome with great suspense, wonderful romance and a fantastic plot but the writing is fantastic with great character development. The narrators Therese Plummer and Jennifer Grace did a fantastic job and made the experience even better. A great experience.

Mystery part was better than romance in my opinion

I did enjoy this book, but it is too similar as far as the romance part to all of the authors other books. Every man is tall, fit, handsome, brave, perfect, blah, blah, and every woman is beautiful, obsessed with diet and exercise and they "fall in love" from the moment they meet, but they can't "start" their relationship until the case is over. As far as the mystery part, there isn't much of a true mystery, since most everything that happens is pretty predictable, but I do enjoy that part of it more. The only other thing I would say that I don't enjoy is the fact that all police officers, detectives, etc... in all the stories seem to care very little when someone is murdered..I find that hard to believe, that they wouldn't care, and even treat it as "all part of the job - or just another day...".

love

Had the right mix of romance and suspense - not a lot of romantic suspense books have that good balance.
