Publisher's Summary

Strap yourself into the cockpit for the "flight of your life" via the newest erotic romance from New York Times best-selling author Whitney G.

Jake Weston and I met under a cloud of cliches: Boy meets girl. Boy charms girl. Boy screws girl. He was the sexiest, cockiest man I'd ever encountered, but I had no idea he was a senior pilot when we met. No idea we worked for the same airline, and he had secrets just like me.

After a passionate night of unforgettable sex, I thought I'd never see him again, but when I did, neither of us could walk away.... We weren't supposed to be together, we definitely weren't supposed to fall in love, and yet our turbulent and forbidden love affair took on a life of its own. We knew we could potentially crash and burn, but what we had was so intoxicating and inescapable that we were both willing to risk it all.

This is us. This is our messed up love. This is Turbulence.

    "Airline Shades of Grey"

I love all things flying, airport and travel. This book was a success on all three, but it sure takes a long time to get there. Narrators save a slow-moving story. Problem is, it's yet another rich, emotionless, scarred guy who, after one magic night together, turns an otherwise smart, happy woman into an obsessed madwoman who has to know why this guy is like that, while having sex with him in what is a master-slave relationship that indicates she is pretty stupid.

Last third is the best and it's well read, but, c'mon, enough with the filthy rich, aloof, screwed-up-childhood "heroes", treating otherwise sharp women like dirt, and they love it.

    Please.

"I flew high on the angst, irritation and fun."

What a great, absorbing read this was, it had the power to make me feel so much and many of those emotions were irritation, hate, frustration but there was also hope and lots of amusement. TURBULENCE was an unusual read in that neither of the main characters were likeable for quite some time but their story and event was just had me completely hooked. As with a few of Whitney G's books, there was a slice of 'this would never really happen in real life' but I can get on board with that concept.

I'm not sure I have the right adjectives to describe the character of Senior Captain Jake but jerk and robot are two. He was such a fun character to listen to and Joe Arden really brought his POV to life in the audiobook. There was character growth, that growth was the slowest burn ever, but it was there. I can say I was eventually converted to like, not love. Gillian spent a significant time of the book being a weak, sappy woman but I did feel sorry for her and when she showed her backbone I was all about engagement. These two had intense chemistry focused mainly on the physical but it was fun reading and I enjoyed the banter (reluctant banter in Jake's case) between these two. Despite Gillian not being the strongest woman, I really enjoyed her journey and the backstories for both her and Jake prior to meeting one another.

TURBULENCE provided an enjoyable flight of angst, fun, irritation, investment and hope. I thoroughly enjoyed this as an audio and both narrators absolutely nailed the characters. I'm excited to see a little free epilogue so I'm off to read that next.

    "A very accurate title"

I really liked the author's work "sincerely Carter, so I decided to give this one a try. This was completely different from that book in a good way. I like that Whitney G can write sweet stories and then she can write rough and gritty ones lit this one.
I'm just going to come out and say for 90% of the book I hate Jake. Yes he had a sad backstory but he treat Gillian like crap. I honestly felt bad for Gillian because it seemed like the only person that really cared about her was her roommate. Everybody else (Jake included) just made her feel bad about herself. The sex scenes are hot but I hated the way he'd blow her off. But then the last couple of chapters happened and I started to dislike Gillian for how she handled the situation with her career. I also felt really bad for Jake because he trusted her and she was not honest with him. The title is very accurately captures what their relationship was a rough ride of fights, bickering, intense sexy and angst. their relationship was so dysfunctional, at times I didn't want them to get together.
I was sucked into this story, could not stop listening to it. The characters were emotionally complex and I found myself getting attached to them; even though I was upset with them for most of the book.
The narrators were perfect. Great casting choices.

    "Hot, steamy & scandalous!"

After Reasonable Doubt & Sincerely, Carter, I started looking for more Whitney Gracia Williams aka Whitney G books to read/listen to. This is one I read before listening to audio. Gillian is the black sheep of her family, and her family makes no bones about it. In order to avoid going back home with her tail between her legs, she decides to work two jobs to remain in NYC. Jake is a financially fit pilot. When Jake & Gillian meet and have hot, steamy, erotic sex, their world gets very turbulent. There is a mystery as to why Jake is a jerk but it slowly comes out. You want to punch him for being such an a--hole then you want to do dirty things with him when he's a romantic. Gillian has some nerve to do some of the crazy things she does, and yet she humorously justifies her actions. Superb narration by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon! Gladly use my credits on Whitney G!

    "Perfect Narration!"

Wow this is a hard review for me to write.... I've been sitting here trying to decide what to say and to be honest, I almost gave up on this book only a few chapters in but I'm so glad I didn't!!! The reason I almost gave up was because Jake was a SERIOUS JERK in the beginning and I was convinced I wouldn't change my mind about him. Who talks to people like that anyways! Well I won't say that I ended up loving Jake but he did grow on me. I was very intrigued by the story line! I needed to know everyone's secrets and my god the sex was HOT! I loves when they went home together the first night! This book has lots of drama, lots of dirty talk and lots of hot steamy sex. Near the end of the book I was telling myself if this goes the way it seems like it might... I may be throwing my phone. In the end I really enjoyed this book but still don't think Jake had to be such a mean person. I will be waiting for book 2!

The narration was awesome! Erin Mallon and Joe Arden are both amazing narrators. I can't say there is one thing about their work that I dislike!

"Fitting Title for a Book...Turbulence all the way"
What made the experience of listening to Turbulence the most enjoyable?

I loved the audio combo of these two narrators. This is a long audio book so the narration of these two narrators made this book a great listen. I couldn't have asked for a better set of narrators to bring this book to life.

What other book might you compare Turbulence to and why?

Beautiful Bastard or Sincerely Carter would be books that I would compare this one to. It's not a short read and they aren't all love and sweetness. There are times you want to hate the characters and ring there necks. You feel for the characters, cry with them, love them, hate them, loath them, and love them again all in one setting.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can't really go into details as it would ruin part of the book but I love the scene where we learn why Jake can be the standoffish jerk he is and can be so coldhearted. It really gets into the meat and bones of what makes him tick and Whitney does such a good job at showing why he is the way he is. She makes you love him and hate him all at the same time.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, there are so many ups and downs and twists you get so wrapped up into the story it's hard to put it down. I got sucked into the story from the get go and didn't want to stop listening. Unfortunantly life does get in the way and I did have to stop listening a couple times due to my family and each time it was so hard to stop and I couldn't wait to pick it up and start again. I wish I would have been able to listen to it all in one sitting it was that good.

    "ok"

Even for $4.95 this was a very drawn out audiobook. And I usually love 10-14 hrs audiobooks. Personally I think the story could of been told in less time, but for the repeated explicit sex scenes. The story just wasn't up to what I like, a plot or a story. The heroine was being "bullied" by the hero. He had a lot of issues and it took a very long time for the author to tell the history of the hero. I think Whitney G. could of wrote a better story.
The narrators did a good job .

"Turbulence The Reason I Love Audiobooks"

Jillian, a reserve flight attendant, supplements her income as an executive housekeeper on Park Avenue. So what, if she occasionally uses the swanky penthouse apartment of one of her absentee clients as her very own crash pad.

Jake Weston is an aloof and a cocky ace airline pilot. When he meets Jillian at a private party, they both decide a one night stand is in order. Surprises and heartache are in store for both Jake and Jillian, as these one night stands keep crossing paths.

10 ½ hours never went by so fast! This story engages you immediately and it never lets you go. Whitney G pens a story that makes you laugh, cry and cringe. Be warned though some may not like this story because Jake is… well… a major dick! He has some serious long-standing baggage. Somehow though I never once felt the slightest dislike for his character. It was a nice surprise that Jillian was no pushover either, she confronts him at every turn and refuses to let him push her away or put up with his antics for too long.

Turbulence is a dual narration by Erin Mallon, and Joe Arden. Erin voices the lion’s share of this audiobook. She is one of the best when it comes to voicing the alpha male. Voicing both genders well is truly a skill that few possess. More than that though, Erin has a wide variety of character voices she acts out. I really got a kick out of her reading of the side character Alicia Connors, it’s pure perfection!

I can’t leave out Joe Arden, he has a voice to die for and the raw emotion that he can bring to the characters are amazing and sometimes frightening. When the character he’s voicing says to “get the hell out, now”, I swear I almost grabbed my keys to leave!

Turbulence is my first listen for author Whitney G, it will not be my last. This was a fantastic story and told well. It’s audiobooks like this that remind me why I love them so much! This will definitely be a repeat listen.
