Publisher's summary

Maybe love can come home after generations in a way not even Hollywood could imagine.

Romance has never been actress Chloe Daschle's forte - in life or on screen. But everyone knows who to call for a convincing death scene...and it might be killing her career.

When Chloe is given a peek at the script for an epic love story, she decides to take her destiny into her own hands and request an audition for the lead female role, Esther Kingsley. The compelling tale, inspired by family lore and a one-page letter from the colonial ancestor of scriptwriter Jesse Gates, just might break her out of this career-crippling rut. Jesse would rather write about romance than live through it after his past relationship ended in disaster. But once on-set together, the chemistry between Jesse and his leading lady is hard to deny.

Centuries earlier, in the heart of the Revolutionary War, Hamilton Lightfoot and Esther Longfellow wrote their saga off the silver screen. Esther's Loyalist father opposes any relationship with Hamilton, but Esther must face her beloved father's disapproval and the dangers of war in order to convince Hamilton of their future together. Hamilton has loved Esther for years, and on the eve of battle pens the love letter she's always wanted - something straight from the heart.

Set in stunning upcountry South Carolina, The Love Letter is a beautifully crafted story of the courage it takes to face down fear and chase after love, even in the darkest of times.

Rachel Hauck Fan will be in Love with Love!

Rachel Hauck Fans will LOVE The Love Letter! Not only was the narrator so good at all the unique voices but the storyline keeps you anticipating what could happen next! I love time slip books where you move back and forth between contemporary and historical and Hauck did this seamlessly! Each character is dealing with their own personal storms and I felt especially connected to Esther...and it's my mom's name! I loved the passion she had for Hamilton but also the love her father, too! And the contemporary character Chloe shared so much of those same values but in a contemporary setting...she was relatable and so likable! Hauck put everyone's fears center stage and let the book unravel at just the right pacing! I also loved the unique nature of the plot and plot twists...and the romance will not disappoint! This isn't my first Hauck novel and it won't be my last! Recommended for contemporary AND historical romance readers!

Oh, I loved this book!

I don't like to retell a story in my reviews, so I will suffice it to say Rachel Hauck does an outstanding job of bringing together the past and the present. There are twists, turns and surprises. I highly recommend this book!!

It was okay.

This book was just okay for me. I had a difficult connecting with these stories and found myself upping the playback speed just so I could finish.
There were four main characters, two in each time period. I liked a little bit of each. The connection between the past and present was interesting. I've enjoyed Rachel Hauck's other books and will happily try more from her. Maybe I've read too many stories about the Revolutionary War recently, affecting my ability to get into this one.
The narration was great. Southern and British accents were well done.

Sweet story

I don’t normally read or listen to Christian romance, but I really did enjoy this one. Creatively written across the span of three centuries with the lovingly subtle help of what I would call guardian angels, Jesse and Chloe find their love. Satisfyingly happy ending and reminds me that sometimes Gods plan doesn’t show directly, but having faith in His plan is the best way forward.
