Publisher's summary

A woman with no name and no memory...The two men who claim her: one with love, the other with fear...A dazzling tale of secret passions—and a love tragically lost and miraculously reborn—by the incomparable storyteller.

Mere days after Ashton Wingate's wedding to the enchanting Lierin, capricious Fate stole the Mississippi plantation owner's beloved from him. Now, three years later, his carriage has collided with a cloaked rider on horseback: a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to the young bride who was swallowed up by the merciless river.

She awakens from unconsciousness in his magnificent home with no memory of who she is. Yet the tenderness of this noble, caring stranger who lovingly calls her "Lierin" soon captures her heart and enflames her with wanting. Then another enters their lives, threatening to destroy the happiness they have rediscovered in each other's arms—the dark and dangerous Malcolm Sinclair, who claims the enigmatic beauty is, in fact, his own wife, Lenore. But Ashton has sworn that he will not lose his adored one a second time, and he will risk any peril to preserve their newfound joy—no matter what the unremembered secrets of his lady's past ultimately reveal.

What an amazing mystery romance!

Come Love a Stanger is another Kathleen Woodiwiss story that I absolutely adore. This story takes you through so many turns it keeps you on the edge of your seat reading it. I won't gives plots away and the synopsis is there for you, but the heroine and hero keep fighting the whole way through to be with each other which other forces are trying to stop them. It is that premise that is so intriguing. This should be a mini series along with Woodiwiss's A Rose in Winter. The narration is amazing by Cassandra York, she always does an excellent job.

love Cassandra York!!

once again we are submitted to a condescending, insulting "preface" that thinks grown readers can't understand a period novel. HOWEVER, once you get past that, this is a wonderful love story/engaging mystery!!! unlike some of the other Kathleen woodiwiss narrators (Shanna, ashes in the wind, a rose in winter), Cassandra does a BEAUTIFUL job narrating! even her make voices are believable heroes. great job for a great book!

Yay!! Loved it!

Got in trouble for sneaking a headphone at work. I’ve waited forever to get this on audible.

highly recommend

loved this story years ago in print. was worth the wait and the credit! Only complaint and it might just be how I read her name in print, the pronunciation of Lerin as lee-erin, doesn't flow as smoothly as how I heard it in my head.

Terrible narrator.

I’m sure the story was good but it was ruined by the narrator. Rosalyn Landor would have been the best one to narrated the book

I love this story, the narrator not so much.

I love Kathleen E. Woodiwiss books! Shanna, Wolf and the Dove, The Flame and the Flower; I love these books. The narrator mispronounced so many common words it blew me away! I almost never write reviews but after listening to the narrator I knew I had to say something because hardly anyone is talking about it. The narrator pronounced words like rifling (rifle-ing) as riffling (riff-ling) and rogue (ro-g hard g) as ro-way!! I pronounced Lierin's name as Lirin in my head but the narrator pronounced it as Lee Erin, ok fine but all the other mispronounced words drove me nuts. I kept going because I do love the story but good Lord! Other than the pronunciation the narrator was fine.

It reminded me of in Shanna the narrator pronounced Roark's name as Ro ark and in my head I was reading his name as Rork or in the Wolf and the Dove, Aislinn was pronounced Ashlyn while in my head I was reading her name as As lynn. I can move past those but when rogue is pronounced ro-way....I just couldn't!

Isn't there a director of some sort when they are producing the audio version of a book? No one thought to correct the narrator nor did she think to look up the words she wasn't familiar with and there pronunciations?

I enjoyed this Woodiwiss because it wasn't too long. Characters were well developed and the plot was believable.

I liked the length and the characters! Give us more of romance and intriguing plots.

Narrator sold the story!

I rate the story a 3.5, it was interesting; but it is Cassandra York who breathed life into this book and gave depth to the characters. She does a particularly good job with “male” voice performance- loved the sexy, southern accent of the H. It was a fun read!

Own the book for years. It’s so nice to have it in audible’s library. My eye sight isn’t what it used to be. And the narrator did a great job.
