Agree with review of C M Rains

Regardless of the narration, it really didn't bother me that much, the story it self was very good and kept my interest. (listen to the free listen before you buy) I find that in most cases if the story is a good one, you don't need a "Great Narrator" a good one will do the job. I remember everyone complained about Jim Butcher's "Ghost Story" because they had to use a different narrator not James Marsters. However the story was written by Jim Butcher and the story was great. The narrator did a fine job. I enjoyed this story very much. I'm getting the second book in this series to see where it takes the characters. I like very much that the heroine is not a push over and seems to be able to use her mind even under sever pressure. I recommend this story if you enjoy modern para-normal novels, it is well written and the characters are engrossing.

Just okay

This book was okay, but nothing special. On the good side, it held my attention and I didn't think about returning it. However, it took me much longer to get through it because I wasn't driven to keep listening. The two main issues I had were a lack of real plot and lack of character development. It was just a series of kidnappings that were pretty random with little build up or background. The two main characters were underdeveloped, especially the guy. There was also no development between the two characters and their relationship.....he kidnapped her and made her "his"....end of development.

The narration was "just okay" as well. I have heard much better and much worse.

I won't be getting the next book in the series.

Eh..Not bad just full of an incompetent Alpha male

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, there was really no chemistry between the hero and heroine. If mates are so scarce one would think the males would protect there mates better. Seriously how does a woman get kidnapped by wolves and humans every second.

If you’ve listened to books by Heather Killough-Walden before, how does this one compare?

No she has a good storyline e just very weak charaters

How could the performance have been better?

Narrator could have stayed in the same dialect through our the book. The mix between the southern drawl os the charaters and the British accent during the storyline three me off

Could you see The Heat being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes a bad B flick scary movie..... The one you say the entire time "don't go in there"

Any additional comments?

Book too expensive to have such a weak story.

Another Doormat Female Lead

Another female lead, treated poorly BUT its OK because he wants her, that's ALL that matters. I mean who wants a female with self respect

bad

this romanticized sexual assault and abuse in my opinion. I made it through some less offensive parts but couldn't make it through the book

Great story... Terrible narrator

What disappointed you about The Heat?

This was a great story but, the narrator makes me not want to buy the rest of the series. I will buy the rest of the books on my e-reader so I don't have to listen to the narrator.
