Publisher's summary

Is there anything sweeter than a first love?

Don't ask Claire Keyes. The 28-year-old piano prodigy has never had a regular boyfriend, much less a real romance. Her music career has left little room for friends or family - which is just part of the reason she hasn't seen the family bakery or her two sisters in years.

But now Nicole is sick, and Jesse is AWOL. Despite the fact that Claire can't boil water, she's determined to play caretaker. Connecting with her sisters tops her to-do list...along with falling in love, or at least in lust, for the first time.

Ruggedly sexy Wyatt just might fit the bill. Although he keeps saying that he and Claire come from entirely different worlds, he lights up hotter than a bakery oven whenever Claire is near. If this keeps up, she just might sweet-talk him into her bed...and her life.

Surprise

I was reluctant to purchase this book because of the other written reviews, but the summary of all three books in the trilogy convinced me to take a chance. I'm glad I did. I had either listened or read all of the Susan Elizabeth Phillips books and was looking for a new author to love. I think I found it. It was a good book. I can't wait to buy the other two. Also, the narrator was the second best I've heard on these audio books. Both the book and the narrator get an A- from me.

SWEET BOOK

Anything Therese Plummer reads, I like. But this story was actually pretty "sweet". It had a good story line, and was interesting. I will be downloading the other two books in this series.

enjoyed

So far I have listened to all of Susan Mallery books on tape and have not been disappointed. I like the fact that she does the entire family. I hate loose ends. I hope I don't have to wait a long time before she does another series.

Sweet Talk is a sweet story

A good story about sisters trying to reconnect after having very different lives and a lot of misunderstandings. A good give and take and having the courage to look at their life situations, having the courage to see the other person's point of view and yet accept their own life and what it was and what it is now. Oh, don't forget the man and his daughter and the love that develops with one of the sisters. Enjoy, light hearted and enjoyable. Therese Plummer is one of my favorite narrators.

Great romance to begin

Our heroine is 28 and extremely sheltered. She finally breaks away when she thinks her twin sister needs her help and finally wants to mend fences. She encounters more than the usual hate but keeps going.

Decent but dated

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not sure I'd recommend this book. I found the first 1/3 of the book to be one dimensional - Claire was all good/innocent, Nicole was horrible and Wyatt was predictable. Once the book moved on, though, everyone gained some other facets. I particularly liked Claire's joy for all of life's little details. Given that the story takes place in Seattle, I was distracted by the voice artist's NY/NJ accents; I'm from the south and have lived on the west coast so don't know which they were but can tell you people don't talk like that in Seattle. I was also distracted by her reading of Wyatt's character - it didn't help with the visualization. He came across a little schmucky to me. However, the book was engaging - I wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't. I'd therefore recommend it conditionally. (To compare to your reading interests, I like a lot of Nora Roberts' recent work, Lisa Kleypas' contemporary, Jill Shalvis and Linda Howard.)
Also, I couldn't help but feel that the story was from several decades ago, despite the references to modern technology. I think it was the style at the beginning, where characters were either good or bad, but nothing in between.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Claire's eventual blossoming made her very likable - she has such joy.

Would you be willing to try another one of Therese Plummer’s performances?

Maybe, not going to seek her work out.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably not - it just didn't grab me enough.

Love this series!

I adore Susan Mallery books. I love all the characters in her stories. She has such a way to bring you right into all of their lives. You become involved, and want to know more. This book was no different. I immediately couldn't wait to read the other books in this series.

ENJOYABLE UNTIL...

i really liked this find at first. You kind of have to muddle through because the beginning a lot of the main details aren't revealed but it's a good story that reminds me to stay positive and keep positive even when things don't turn out the way that you'd thought they'd go. I enjoyed the story up until the last part of the book, I won't spoil anything but let's just say I was shaking my head, and telling Wyatt to run~!
Overall I really enjoyed the book.
